Fortnite update 2.77 PS4 PATCH NOTES: Epic fixes annoying problem on PlayStation 4

Fortnite developer Epic Games has released yet another maintenance update exclusively on PS4.

PlayStation 4 fans must download and install Fortnite update 2.77 before logging in.

The new Fortnite update weighs in at just under 500MB, so it shouldn’t take too long to download.

Unlike the big numbered updates, no server downtime is required, so you’ll be back online before you know it.

Fortnite update 2.77 doesn’t make any sweeping changes or add any new content, but it does fix one particularly annoying problem.

According to the update 2.77 patch notes, the new release fixes an issue related to party invites.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “We’ve released a maintenance patch on PlayStation 4 to address an issue with party invites.”

It’s unclear what else is addressed by the new update, but expect the usual blend of bug fixes and minor performance tweaks.

The update launches on the same day as the Captain America outfit hits the item shop.

The Captain America skin was leaked in the recent Fortnite update 13.20 game files, before launching in the July 3 shop update.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “Armed with his indestructible shield and iron will, Super-Soldier Captain America will take on any obstacle thrown his way.

“Grab the Captain America Outfit now!”

The Captain America outfit can be purchased for 2,000 V-bucks from the in-game shop.

In addition to the Captain America costume, all purchases include the Proto-Adamantium Shield, which can be equipped as back bling or as a harvesting tool.

For an additional 300 V-bucks, players can also get the Grand Salute emote, complete with fireworks.

Because it’s a special item – and with the July 4 celebrations taking place this Saturday – the new skin should be available until at least Sunday, July 5.

There’s a chance it could stick around a little longer, but it’s probably best to pick it up sooner rather than later, just in case.

Fortnite Captain America skin shop update: Price, dates on sale and SECRET challenge

Fortnite developer Epic Games has released the Captain America skin in time for July 4.

To celebrate Independence Day in the US, Fortnite fans can purchase the patriotic Marvel hero for a limited time.

While the Captain America outfit doesn’t come with its own selection of Style Challenges like Aquaman and Deadpool, fans have discovered a secret task.

The new challenge tasks players with setting off five sets of fireworks around Lazy Lake.

There are six sets of fireworks in total, all situated on the outskirts of Lazy Lake. The video below shows the exact location of all the fireworks.

Once exploded, the fireworks make the Captain America logo, so be sure to look up and see your handiwork.

In addition to Captain America skin, update 13.20 also added a new weapon, a deployable workbench, as well as LTMs for Season 3.

As teased earlier this week, the Flare Gun is the big new addition to the Fortnite Battle Royale weapons list.

The Deployable Workbench, meanwhile, is said to provide easier access to upgrading and sidegrading weapons.

Warzone chat is not working for Call of Duty gamers on Xbox One, here’s why

Call of Duty gamers are flagging problems with Warzone Chat services not working while in groups.

The problems started earlier yesterday evening and continue to be a problem in the early hours of July 3.

So what’s the problem with Call of Duty services tonight and how long might it last?

From what has been shared online, most of tonight’s problems are connected to COD fans playing on Xbox One.

And if you are trying to connect with your friends tonight and can’t, it probably down to Xbox Live.

Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Live services connected to Party and Chat features are not working properly.

The latest from the support team suggests that Microsoft engineers are looking into the issue.

The only problem is until that issue is fixed, you probably won’t be able to chat together on Xbox One.

The good news is that progress is being made, with the latest message from Microsoft explaining: “We are seeing indications that we are on the path to recovery with this feature, and we expect to be back up and running shortly.”

Until this issue is resolved, players will need to do their best using the Warzone Ping system.

NBA 2K21 release date reveal TODAY, pre-orders and final cover athlete news

NBA 2K21 release date is getting announced today by 2K Games, who will also start taking pre-orders for the hit basketball game and announce the final cover athlete. This week has seen plenty of NBA 2K21 news drop, with two cover athletes being announced for the latest entry in the hugely popular basketball series. The Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard is the cover star for the current gen version of NBA 2K21, while New Orleans Pelicans’ Zion Williamson features on the sleeve for the next-gen version.

And 2K Games will cap off this week chock full of announcements by dropping some major news today.

The NBA 2K makers have said on Thursday July 2 they will announce the NBA 2K21 release date as well as pricing.

That’s not all, with pre-orders also going live on the same day and the final cover star for NBA 2K21 getting revealed.

In a post online 2K Games said: “On July 2, 2K will announce the final cover athlete for NBA 2K21, as well as the release date and pricing; pre-orders will go live as well.”

  • NBA 2K21 cover athlete REVEALED: 2K Games unveils first cover star

NBA 2K games typically launch around September time, which is when NBA 2K21 could launch for current gen consoles.

It seems likely the next-gen versions will be released later then that, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X expected to arrive in October or November.

The NBA 2K21 trailer showcased during the PlayStation reveal event previously said that version would be dropping in ‘fall 2020’.

So we could see the current gen version of NBA 2K21 release in September with the next-gen version available later on for the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch day.

This, of course, remains to be seen. Ahead of the inbound release news next-gen cover star Williamson spoke about what it means to him to appear on the game’s sleeve.

The 19-year-old said: “Being on the cover of NBA 2K has been a dream since I was a kid and to be the first NBA 2K21 cover athlete for the next-generation of gaming is really special.

“Since the day I joined Team 2K, I’ve wanted to make an impact on basketball culture both on and off the court, and being the cover athlete for NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles lets me do that.

“I can’t wait to be part of this global phenomenon and hoop with all the ballers out there on NBA 2K21.”

While Alfie Brody, VP of Marketing at NBA 2K, said: “For the cover of the next-generation version of NBA 2K21, we wanted to find someone who could represent the next-generation of NBA superstar.

“Zion is one of the few young players who has met the hype and can be considered a standard bearer for the next generation. We’re thrilled that he is representing the 2K21.”

FIFA 20 down: EA server status latest as maintenance begins

While outages have grown more frequent from leading online games in recent months, today’s FIFA 20 server outage is part of planned maintenance schedule.

EA servers are currently offline for FIFA 20 gamers, and downtime is expected to continue over the coming hours.

According to the latest news on the subject, FIFA 20 servers will only be down for a total of four hours today, July 1, 2020.

This will affect FIFA 20 Ultimate Team, which will be unplayable during the current maintenance period across all platforms.

The good news is that FIFA downtime is only expected to last until 11am BST, meaning at least another three hours of maintenance.

This outage in Ultimate Team and other core online services is set to affect both FIFA 20 and FIFA 19 games on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

A message from the EA Sports support team explains: “We have scheduled maintenance coming up on July 1st, from 7 AM to 11 AM BST. FUT match creation will be disabled 30 minutes prior to maintenance.

“During this time, you may be disconnected or unable to connect to EA servers on all platforms. Impacted titles: FIFA 19 and 20.”

EA Sports has not explained what is being done during the maintenance but a new update was recently released for the AAA game.

This has yet to arrive on consoles but the PC patch notes confirm the following changes:

Made the following change:

  • Added the Special Quality Filter, a new feature that will be activated through a server release at a later date and time, and this activation will be announced on the @EAFIFADIRECT Twitter account.
  • The Special Quality Filter enables players to search for the exact Player Item rarity.
  • The Special Quality Filter is available in the Transfer Market, and in the Club tab of the Squad screen.
  • The Special Quality Filter can be accessed by hovering over the Quality tile when performing a search, followed by pressing your controller’s confirmation button.
  • Known Issue: The Special Quality Filter incorrectly displays an option to search for Silver FUT Champions Items, an Item rarity that is not present in-game.

Addressed the following issue:

  • When selecting one of the first 7 Player Items in the search results, the Compare Price function on the Transfer Market was only displaying 1 page of Player Items.

Minecraft Dungeons update today before Jungle Awakens DLC release date

A big Minecraft Dungeons update has arrived today and it appears that some players may have gotten early access to new content. Developers Mojang confirmed last week that they would be adding new content on July 1 through the new Jungle Awakens DLC. They also confirmed that a free Minecraft Dungeons update would also be going live, bringing the Lower Temple dungeon, some new items, and a few game balancing changes.

Some players are reporting they have access to this new Minecraft update, along with new content today.

However, others are reporting only receiving the update, without any other changes noted.

“When I click it (Ender Pearl), it takes me to another map,” one Minecraft gamer reports.

“This new map has two DLCs, the Winter one and the Jungle one. The Winter one is still not out yet. But Jungle Awakens is playable for me. I’m on PC.”

Another adds: “I mean I am already playing it and it’s out. Update your game and it’ll show you news on the main screen saying the DLC is available to play.”

It’s unclear if this is some kind of glitch or part of Mojang’s plans to launch the latest free and paid content into Minecraft Dungeons.

The official Minecraft Dungeons Jungle Awakens DLC release date has been set for Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

  • Minecraft 1.16 Nether update: Patch Bedrock and Java Today

But anyone who has been waiting for the new Minecraft Dungeons expansion may want to check and see if anything has changed on their chosen platform.

Everyone who owns the game will get access to the Lost Temple Dungeon, while those who own the Hero Editions, or Pass, will get automatic access to the new DLC content.

A message from Mojang adds: “For those of you who already bought the Hero Edition, all of this is included! Don’t worry, you can always upgrade your standard game with the Hero Pass.

“Jungle Awakens will be released on July 1, so get ready to battle new mobs such as the Leapleaf and Whisperer before ultimately saving the day by defeating the Jungle Abomination.”

And commenting on the free update, Mojang provided an early teaser, telling fans this week:

“One thing they did add was more shrubbery, vines, and humidity. Foliage as far as the eye can see.

“Oh, and a bunch of new weapons, armors, artifacts, and mobs. And three new story missions! Aaaand a free update, which includes the Lost Temple dungeon, some new items, and a few game balancing changes. Phew! I’m out of breath and I haven’t even gotten to the pandas yet.”

According to Microsoft, there are two DLC expansions planned for Minecraft Dungeons, following the game’s successful release earlier this year.

Minecraft Dungeons is also playable through the Xbox Game Pass, which provides a library of games that you can download and play.

Unlike Project xCloud, which is a new streaming service in beta, the Xbox Game Pass allows you to install the titles you want, rather than having to use a constant internet connection.

Xbox Games with Gold July 2020 release date, launch time, free games, last chance WARNING

The Games with Gold line-up of free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games is about to be refreshed for July 2020.

The next wave of Games with Gold releases will be available to download from July 1, 2020.

The new games include WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship on Xbox One, which will be available for the entire month of July.

This will be accompanied by open-world action game Saints Row 2 on Xbox 360, which is available until July 16.

Xbox 360 platform game Juju and Xbox One basketball release Dunk Lords will join the service later this month.

With the Games with Gold line-up about to be refreshed by Microsoft, subscribers only have a few hours left to download the current batch of free games.

This includes Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse on Xbox One, and Sine Mora on Xbox 360.

They’re not the highest profile Games with Gold releases, but both games are enjoyable in their own right, and well worth a download.

Until Dunk Lords reviews drop, WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship is arguably the pick of the bunch in July 2020.

Featuring dynamic weather and improved physics, the rally racing game has a 76% score on Metacritic.

“Play the most complete and authentic WRC simulation yet,” reads the official description.

“Featuring a dynamic weather system with true-to-life physics, preparation and management before each stage are vital as you compete in the sun, rain, and snow. With 50 teams, 14 rallies, and over 100 stages, WRC 8 has the deepest content ever available in an off-road racing title.”

Dunk Lords is one of the more intriguing Games with Gold releases in July 2020. The two-on-two basketball game is clearly inspired by NBA Jam, only with more emphasis on fighting.

“You can ball… but can you fight?” reads the Dunk Lords description. “Find out in this fantastic two-on-two basketball beat ‘em up.

“Choose from 20 of the baddest ballers around, each with special attacks and insane abilities, and battle it out on 15 unique courts.

“Play powered-up pickup games with four friends or guide your young star, Slice, to the very top in Story Mode. Make sure not to miss out on this new-to-Xbox title!”

Saints Row 2 is another decent game with something of a cult following among fans. It’s similar to GTA in style, only a little more over-the-top.

End of the Nintendo Direct? Ninty could look at more ‘effective’ ways to reveal news

Nintendo Direct fans are currently enduring a barren spell, with the House of Mario not looking like they’ll be holding another major Direct anytime soon. The last big Direct was the Nintendo Direct Mini held in March, and the last proper Nintendo Direct was the one held almost a year ago in September. And rumour has it that Nintendo might not hold their next major Direct broadcast until towards the end of this summer.

If that’s correct then that would mark a huge gap in-between Directs, with fans eager to find out what Ninty has in store for the Switch for the rest of the year.

And as fans wait to find out more about when the next Nintendo Direct could be some surprise comments have emerged from Japan.

In the company’s 80th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa spoke about what the future holds for Direct presentations.

As reported on in a post by Nintendo Everything, Furukawa-san said Nintendo Directs are “especially effective” ways of conveying news to fans.

  • Nintendo Switch games leak: Good and bad news ahead of summer Direct

But the Nintendo bigwig added that “more effective” ways of relaying such news may become available in the future which Nintendo could consider.

The comments were translated by Robert Sephazon who in a thread online revealed all of the main talking points from the shareholders meeting.

Sephazon posted: “Nintendo believes Nintendo Directs are an especially effective means of conveying new game content and announcements to fans.

“However, more effective means may become available in the future, and they may consider what is the best way to bring new information to fans.”

Furukawa-san also apologised for the Switch stock shortages that have affected regions around the world in recent months.

Sephazon tweeted: “Nintendo President Furukawa apologizes for the lack of Nintendo Switch stock in recent months. Ever since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the global supply has been difficult to maintain. When there is high demand, increasing production may take some time to resolve.

  • Nintendo games SHOCK: Huge news for video game collectors in Europe

“He continues saying that Nintendo is taking the Nintendo Switch stock issue very seriously, and have already ramped up production, but say they don’t have an immediate response beyond further studies of the market and demand forecasts.”

In the shareholders meeting it was also revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to development delays but it won’t affect upcoming releases.

Sephazon posted: “Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer Shinya Takahashi says Nintendo has faced development delays due to COVID-19, but it will not affect upcoming releases. In the future, if the pandemic continues, there could be delays in future development and releases.”

It remains to be seen whether Nintendo does look at alternative ways of delivering news to fans – instead of Directs – in the future.

But in the meantime anticipation amongst fans is high for the Direct that should have been taking place around E3 time.

Rumour has it this broadcast could be taking place towards the end of the summer, and given the Switch’s release schedule for the rest of the year there is plenty of hype.

The Switch release schedule for Q3 and Q4 is looking pretty bare right now, which has led fans to thinking Ninty could have some big surprises in the works.

It’s rumoured Nintendo will release a Super Mario All Stars-style collection for the Switch that remasters classic Mario 3D titles.

This would be to mark the iconic plumber’s 30th birthday, and it’s rumoured Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy are all getting the remaster treatment.

Other titles that could feature in the next Direct include Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, Metroid Prime 4, a new Mario Kart game, Bayonetta 3 and Shin Megami Tensei 5.

Call of Duty Warzone patch notes 1.23 and Modern Warfare Data Pack DLC update

While today’s Call of Duty Warzone 1.23 update might not include all the improvement wanted by fans for COD Battle Royale, it does looks set to offer some much-wanted changes.

A big bonus from this week’s new patch is the 200-player Warzone mode, which will be available to play as soon as you have installed the chunky download.

Expect the new Modern Warfare update to require between 20GB and 40GB, which luckily won’t increase the install size by that much.

And while the June 30 update includes some eye-catching stuff – the Cheshire Park multiplayer map and new sniper rifle – it also includes some other much-needed tweaks.

This included the downgrading of the Grau, which has been reigning supreme across Verdransk these past few weeks.

Deadly when running into other players, and also very deadly from afar, the Grau has needed to be tamed for some time.

And today is the day things may change in Call of Duty Warzone across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

As confirmed in the official Call of Duty Warzone patch notes from developers Infinity Ward, the Grau’s damage range has been reduced while frequency recoil has also been increased.

It’s unclear if this will be enough to make things a little more varied on the ground but it’s a step in the right direction.

It will be up to gamers to playtest the changes this week and that means downloading the game’s new data pack.

Activision has warned that it will be a big one, telling fans this week: “Please note that the Season Four Reloaded update will have a download size of approximately 22-36 GB for owners of the full version of Modern Warfare.

“Console owners must install a secondary download of approximately 3.5GB, then reboot the game to access Multiplayer, if desired.

“A reminder, console players can choose also to uninstall/remove other data packs (e.g. Special Operations), if no longer needed for a smaller overall file size.

“Once the Season Four Reloaded update is fully completed, it should minimally increase the overall digital footprint of the full version of Modern Warfare.

“Existing free-to-play Warzone players will have a download size of approximately 22GB-30GB, once finished there will be a reduction to the overall footprint on their machines.”

Here’s how you can delete older data packs to make Modern Warfare small on your console:

  • 1. Launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
  • 2. When you reach the main menu, select Options.
  • 3. Navigate to the General tab.
  • 4. Scroll to the bottom and select Game Installs.
  • 5. Highlight any content you wish to uninstall.
  • 6. Select Uninstall, then select Confirm.

Full patch notes from today’s Call of Duty Warzone update can be found below:

Fortnite downtime: Epic Games Fortnite servers shutting down for update 13.20

We’re just hours away from one of the first major Fortnite updates of Season 3 being released across PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mobile and PC.

A new patch is launching today, June 30, that’s set to add “new flare” to the game, which sounds like a fresh piece of arsenal to try out on the map.

Epic Games has also confirmed they will be shutting down servers, meaning the game will be unplayable for a short period.

As mentioned above, this will be one of the first major updates since Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 began earlier this month.

For now, the map remains flooded in many areas, making for one of the biggest shake-ups since it replaced the old one.

Data miners believe that further changes are coming, with hints founds in the game files suggesting that water levels will eventually fall.

This would make for a neat way to show off new locations, however, it remains just a rumour for now.

If this does start happening, the first drop in water levels could happen today, following the release of Fortnite update 13.20.

The start of a new Season usually heralds some big changes, be it through new ways to travel across the map, or POI to explore.

A message from the beginning of Season 3 adds: “The Island has flooded, there are new areas to explore, Marauders to take on and… sharks to ride?

“Survive more than just the Storm. Adapt to the new flooded way of life on the Island.

“Watch your back! Defend yourself from new Marauders as they crash down onto the island and challenge your survival.”

So it will be interesting to see what has been planned for Fortnite Season 3.

The only downside with today’s update is that it means the game servers will be unavailable for several hours.

The good news is that we know what time Fortnite downtime will be starting, and they have also given a rough outline for how long it might last.

According to Epic Games, Fortnite servers are scheduled to go offline on Tuesday, June 30, on PS4, Xbox, PC, Switch and Mobile.

This means that Battle Royale and Save the World modes will be unplayable for the duration.

Epic estimates downtime could last up to three hours, however, it’s more likely that everything will be completed much sooner.

Recent updates have only taken around an hour or two to deploy but it will all depend on how many fixes are included.

Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite server downtime and maintenance will begin at 7am, GMT.

This means that Fortnite will be unavailable in the United States from 2am ET onward, for however long maintenance lasts.

An update will be shared on Twitter when Fortnite servers are going offline, and another will be posted for when they are back online.

The latest message from the team confirms that they are closing down servers this morning, with new content a good possibility.
