PlayStation 5 Pre-Order Guide: How To Sign Up And Get Pre-Order Page Notifications

Sony revealed the PlayStation 5 for the first time in a reveal event earlier this month. Along with a slew of next-generation games, the company gave us our first look at the PS5 console and several of its first-party accessories. Unfortunately, Sony still hasn’t announced the PS5’s price or release date, so PS5 pre-orders haven’t gone live yet. It’s unclear when we’ll hear more, but Sony did confirm those details are coming.

If you want to be one of the first people to put your money down, several retailers have opened sign-ups to notify people when the PS5 will be available to pre-order. Below, check out the PS5’s newly revealed design, sign up to be notified when pre-orders go live, and catch up on what we know about the PS5 so far. Plus, see all the games revealed in Sony’s “Future of Gaming” livestream.

The PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition

The PS5 reveal event gave us our first look at two different versions of Sony’s next-gen console. The first model of the PS5 comes with a 4K Blu-ray disc drive, while the second comes without one and is dubbed the PS5 Digital Edition.

PS5 accessories

During the PS5 reveal event, we got our first look at some official, first-party PS5 accessories. Sony revealed a new headset, media remote, controller-charging dock, and camera. No prices were revealed. Unfortunately, we didn’t learn if third-party PS4 accessories will be forward-compatible with the PS5.

When will the PS5 be available to pre-order?

Best Buy, Target, and GameStop are all currently accepting sign-ups for people who wish to be notified. Walmart’s landing page also went live after the PS5 reveal event, but it’s not accepting sign-ups at this time. It’s currently unclear when the PS5’s pre-order date will be, and since no information was revealed in Sony’s livestream on June 11, it’s likely pre-order information and pricing will come later this summer. It’s possible the coronavirus pandemic has caused the PS5’s pre-order date to be pushed back due to stock concerns.

In any case, you can sign up below to be notified right when the PS5 goes on sale. Of course, we’ll update this story with any relevant PS5 pre-order information and listings when they’re available.

PS5 release date

Sony has confirmed a “holiday 2020” release window for PS5, though it still hasn’t revealed the exact release date. In the past, November has been a frequent month for console releases, but nothing is confirmed beyond the fact that PS5 is still releasing in 2020.

How much will the PS5 cost?

Unfortunately, we still don’t know the PS5’s pricepoint. Both models of the PS5 were revealed during Sony’s event, though neither received a price. In a press release following the event on June 11, Sony said pricing and other details will come “at a later date.” In the past, Sony has stated that PS5’s price will be “appealing to gamers” because of its specs.

What we do know about the PS5

The PS5 will usher in a new generation of games, but it will also feature PS4 backward-compatibility. Both consoles boast similar internal architecture, so the transition is easier than what we saw from the PS3 to PS4. However, it’s unclear which PS4 games will be compatible with the PS5. Sony has said that most games will run on the PS5–Cerny noted that almost all of the PS4’s 100 most-played games will be compatible with the new system. The reason some games aren’t compatible is that “the boost is truly massive this time around and some game code just can’t handle it,” Cerny said. This means Sony has to test each game before they can give the thumbs up.

Speaking of games, Sony also revealed quite a few during the PS5 reveal event on June 11. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart were among the reveals as were Resident Evil 8: Village, Hitman III, and a Demon’s Souls remake.

As for the PS5’s specs, it most notably boasts a custom 825GB SSD with an expandable NVMe SSD storage slot, which will ensure faster install times as well as faster loading–though not all NVMe SSDs will be capable of keeping up with the PS5.

The console supports ray tracing, 3D audio, and PlayStation VR, and it also has a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive. To simplify things, Sony has said the PS5 is powerful enough to support 4K resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate–that’s double the refresh rate of most TVs, which typically run at 60Hz.

Sony also revealed the PS5’s DualSense controller earlier this year. Sony said that one of its goals is “to deepen the feeling of immersion when you play games.” The company elaborated on this by revealing two new features the next-gen controller will support. The first is the replacement of its rumble technology with haptic feedback–this is also why they dropped the Shock part of the DualShock name. Sony says that “you truly feel a broader range of feedback” with haptics, which means “crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field.” Sony noted you can even feel the difference between various textures.

The second big new feature is what Sony calls “adaptive triggers,” which the company claims can simulate various actions, such as “the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain.”

Deadly Premonition 2 Pre-Order Guide: Price, Physical Edition, And More (Switch)

The open-world survival horror game Deadly Premonition has garnered a cult following since its release in 2010; now, exactly 10 years later, it’s finally getting a sequel. Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise releases on Nintendo Switch July 10, and you can pre-order it right now.

Like the first game, Deadly Premonition 2 is an open-world, single-player adventure and follows FBI agent Francis York Morgan as he investigates a mysterious serial murder case in the fictional town of Le CarrĂ© within New Orleans. You’ll be able to travel freely by foot or by skateboard, as in the first game, and there will also be various mini-games like bowling, bayou rides, and skateboard challenges. You’ll also be able to customize your character and skateboard.

Deadly Premonition 2 is up for pre-order–thankfully, it’s a little cheaper than the standard new Switch release, selling for $50. You can pre-order now at select retailers to get a physical copy by release day; of course, you can always pre-order directly from the Eshop too.

Pre-order Deadly Premonition 2 | $50

The game on its own is selling for $50. Its box art (shown above) is incredibly striking and potentially worth grabbing the physical edition for.

Buy Deadly Premonition Origins Collector’s Edition | $43

If you never played through the first game and want to check out where the story began, you can get a physical copy of Deadly Premonition Origins to have alongside your copy of Deadly Premonition 2. The standard edition is on sale for $36 at Amazon.

A Collector’s Edition of Deadly Premonition Origins is also available. The Collector’s Edition includes a set of six metal pin badges in a collectible case and two collectible postcards of original artwork from director Hidetaka Suehiro’s concept notebook. It’s also a few bucks off at Amazon right now, where you can grab it for $43.

The original Deadly Premonition was an extremely divisive game in terms of reviews, but it earned a 7/10 in GameSpot’s Deadly Premonition review for its bizarre and entertaining story, memorable cast, and surprising twists despite its poor visuals and terrible sound effects. “The foibles and frailties quickly fade when you realize that Deadly Premonition possesses one of video gaming’s most treasured traits: unpredictability,” wrote Kevin VanOrd. “And just as the story and gameplay cover remarkably varied ground, so too will your emotions waver, tossed about by funny characterizations, shocking twists, and touching revelations that will affect all but the most jaded players. In most games, Deadly Premonition’s archaic gameplay mechanics and narrative quirks would be laughable, if not pitiable. But in context, they combine to create a truly unique experience that cribs from various sources but resembles none of them.”

Iron Man VR Pre-Order Bonus, PSVR Bundle, And Deluxe Edition Info

After a series of delays–most recently alongside The Last of Us Part 2–PlayStation’s Iron Man VR finally has a release date. The PSVR exclusive will now launch on July 3, and if you want to be ready for its release, you can pre-order Iron Man VR now from a number of different retailers. If you need to buy a PSVR system, a new Iron Man PSVR bundle is available now and includes everything you need to play. There’s also a pre-order bonus for securing your copy early, as well as a digital special edition if you’re looking to snag some extra content.

As its name suggests, Iron Man VR follows the Armored Avenger on a brand-new adventure. In this story, Tony Stark has retired from making weapons and now uses his tech to fight evil as Iron Man. Several years later, he’s attacked by a villain known as Ghost, a hacker and anti-corporate activist who is now repurposing old Stark Industries weapons to attack his corporate locations around the globe. Aside from flying through the sky and facing off against Iron Man’s foes in high-stakes battles, you’ll also be able to upgrade Tony’s tech and customize Iron Man’s armor and abilities.

Iron Man VR is a PlayStation VR-exclusive, so you won’t be able to play it on the Oculus Quest or any PC VR headset. And since you’ll be playing as Tony Stark inside the Iron Man suit, you’ll be moving your hands around shooting down enemies. That means you’ll need the Move controllers as well as a PS4 and PlayStation VR headset.

With the different versions and overall difficulty of finding PlayStation VR in stock, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about pre-ordering Iron Man VR before the Marvel hero comes to PS4 this July.

Iron Man VR pre-order bonuses

If you pre-order Iron Man VR before its July 3 release date, then you’ll get yourself an Iron Man PS4 theme and four different custom armor decos. These armor decos swap the color of Iron Man’s suit. The four pre-order bonus skins are Iron Man’s Origin Armor, Vintage Armor, Silver Centurion Armor, and Ultraviolet Armor.

Pre-order Iron Man VR Standard edition | $40

Iron Man VR’s standard edition is available to pre-order both physically and digitally for $40 and comes with all pre-order bonuses if purchased before its release date.

Pre-order Iron Man VR Digital Deluxe edition | $50

Iron Man VR’s special edition is its Deluxe Edition, which is available to pre-order for $50. Unfortunately, there is no physical Deluxe Edition, so if you want the Deluxe Edition’s unique content, then you’ll have to buy Iron Man VR digitally on the PlayStation Store.

The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with the base game, 12 research points, a digital soundtrack, PS4 theme, and four Deluxe armor decos. These special armor skins are the Golden Avenger, Black Centurion, Sun Stinger, and Stealth variations of Iron Man’s suit.

PlayStation VR headset bundle

Sony announced a brand-new PSVR Iron Man bundle will launch alongside the game for $350 USD / $450 CAD in the US, Canada, and many South American countries. This bundle includes everything you need to play the game, including the VR headset, a PlayStation Camera, and a pair of PlayStation Move motion controllers. With the motion controllers currently sold out everywhere but required to play the game, this bundle is a hot commodity if you’re looking to buy a PSVR headset and Iron Man VR at the same time.

If this bundle sells out or you simply want to snag some different games along with your purchase, another great option is the PlayStation VR Blood & Truth and Everybody’s Golf bundle for $350, which comes with two great games and everything you need for Iron Man VR. If you’d like to save some money, GameStop sells refurbished PlayStation VR headsets for $150, though you will need to pick up a pair of Move controllers separately.

PSVR bundles:

PlayStation Move motion controllers

Two PlayStation Move controllers are required for Iron Man VR. Unfortunately, if you own a PlayStation VR headset and don’t own the controllers, you might have a hard time finding any of the Move wands in stock anywhere. With a list price of $100 for a two-pack, the Move motion controllers are sold out at many retailers, and it’s unclear whether they’ll be restocked by the time Iron Man VR releases. We’re not currently seeing them in stock at MSRP anywhere, so your best option is to buy one of the PSVR bundles mentioned above.

Ghost Of Tsushima Pre-Order Guide: Pre-Order Bonuses, Special Editions And More (PS4)

Ghost of Tsushima, one of the last major PS4 exclusives, is now less than a month away. Initially planned for June 26, PlayStation announced Ghost of Tsushima will now release July 17–just one month after Sony’s other major game for the year: The Last of Us Part 2, which hits this Friday, June 19. Ahead of its release, PlayStation showed off around 18 minutes of new Ghost of Tsushima gameplay in its latest State of Play livestream on May 14, and we got an up-close look at the game’s open-world exploration, combat, stealth mechanics, character customization, and much more. It also has multiple pre-order bonuses and editions available to pre-order.

Developed by Infamous series studio Sucker Punch, Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world action stealth game set in feudal Japan. You play as one of the only samurai to survive the Mongol invasion of the island of Tsushima in 1274. Your job is to sneak around, fight enemies, and take the island back.

Ghost of Tsushima gameplay first deputed in an E3 2018 trailer, giving us our first glimpse at its stunning world. Reminiscent of traditional samurai films, we see the protagonist, Jin, in the Otsuna Grassland. He squares off with three Mongol invaders to meet up with his ally Masako. Not only is the open world absolutely breathtaking, but the battles are also beautifully choreographed to fit into the picturesque beauty of feudal Japan.

In addition to the release date and story trailer, Sucker Punch released a slew of pre-order information for Ghost of Tsushima, including multiple special editions and pre-order bonuses. July 17 will be here before you know it, so read on for everything you need to know about pre-ordering Ghost of Tsushima.
