Biomutant PS5 is prettier than ever and a decent action role-play game

Action role-play game Biomutant has been given a PS5 makeover.

If you’ve got the original game from when it first released on PS4 in May last year you can upgrade your version for free.

But newcomers will need to shell out £35 for the next-gen version.

It’s a decent, if not mind blowing title and probably isn’t worth buying brand new.

But if you liked the original and want to see it in a real visual glory utilising everything the PS5 and Xbox Series X machines can throw at it, it’s worth a free upgrade.

The game is an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable.

You play a mutant critter with a big old gun and some kick-ass moves as you battle your way through overgrown lands trying to save the world.

It’s all about big boss battles and unlocking new abilities and mutations to improve your character’s fighting mechanics as the difficulty of enemies ramps up.

A storyteller narrates every step of your journey, but it’s your actions and choices that’ll decide how your story of survival ends, and you’ll have pivotal moments regularly to define your unique journey.

The combat is fun and the new-look next-gen 4K 60FPS smooth visuals give it a real sparkle over the launch game.

On PS5, it also unlocks the unique DualSense controller’s inner speaker, meaning every hack and slash you make during fighting blasts at you from the gamepad below as well as the telly.

There’s a little haptic feedback too, meaning better immersion in the height of battle as the controller rumbles with killer blows.

Loading times are faster and the whole title feels a lot smoother, more polished thanks to its next-gen makeover.

For those who didn’t like the title in the first place, I’d say avoid.

But if you’re intrigued, and you have a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, it might be worth you trying out the two-hour full game trial on the service before purchase.

For those with the original, it's

a bit of a no-brainer to download and resample this version.

VERDICT 3/5
