For Honor confirms next-gen compatibility, inventory transfer
For Honor will be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S when those consoles launch, Ubisoft Montreal confirmed on Thursday. Players of the game on PS4 and Xbox One will find all of the progression and inventory they’ve accumulated waiting for them on the new hardware, too.
The improvements will come from a patch to the existing game. Thursday’s announcement said they are “carried over from the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro” versions of For Honor. The game will be playable at 60 frames per second (on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5) when its Year 4 Season 4 begins in early December.
The compatibility means switching over to the new hardware won’t require any re-buying or other costs related to For Honor. The visual enhancements will include improved detail distance, shadows’ resolutions, texture filtering, and water reflections.
The Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will support 4K resolution, while the Xbox Series S will support 1080p.
For Honor Year 4, officially the “Year of Reckoning,” began in February on the third anniversary of the game’s launch on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Season 3 began on Sept. 17.
