Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first Warzone season will begin in December
During its third quarter earnings call on Thursday, Activision revealed upcoming plans for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. More specifically, it shared how the game will work together with Call of Duty: Warzone, the series’ battle royale spinoff.
While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be released on Nov. 13, the game’s first official multiplayer season won’t begin until December. (The exact date hasn’t been announced.) The start of the game’s first season will also be the first time it will have a significant influence in Warzone, according to Activision.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War needs 50 to 250 GB of storage at launch
One thing that isn’t quite clear is what that influence might be. It’s likely that some kind of map change could arrive with Warzone’s first Black Ops Cold War season, but we won’t know for sure until Activision announces more details. However, we do know that the first season should bring in the first battle pass for Black Ops Cold War, and likely some unique seasonal game modes.
One thing we do know is that Black Ops Cold War’s weapons will all be available to use in Warzone as well. Players will be able to use Modern Warfare weapons, or weapons they’ve earned ranking up through the 55 levels available in Black Ops Cold War. Players will also be able to switch between custom loadouts from each of the two games.
While these weapons will all be available in Warzone eventually, it wasn’t quite clear whether they’ll be added to the battle royale game as soon as soon as Black Ops Cold War is released on Nov. 13, or if players will have to wait for season 1 for weapons crossovers.
While there are still plenty of questions left about what’s next for Call of Duty: Warzone, it shouldn’t take long for them to be answered. Treyarch should be announcing details about the future of Warzone in the next week or so, according to Activision president Daniel Alegre.
