Halo Infinite’s F2P multiplayer launching with campaign
Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer component will launch simultaneously with the single-player campaign, 343 Studios confirmed at Sunday’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase.
A two-minute hype reel showed Halo fans what they can expect if they’re not sweet on exploring the latest chapter in Halo’s canon. Warthogs, Pelicans, and other vehicles accompanied the usual flag-planting red-vs.-blue action players have enjoyed for the past two decades.
Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer was announced last July at the Xbox Games Showcase.
Microsoft in April confirmed that Halo Infinite would launch for Windows PC on the same date as consoles, a first for the series. Halo Infinite’s multiplayer suite will support cross-platform play and progression, another first for the series.
Originally expected with the launch of the Xbox Series X in November 2021, Halo Infinite still does not have a formal release date. Sunday’s trailer said Halo Infinite would launch for the 2021 holidays, so November is a good bet.
