Halo Infinite Mega Bloks may spoil a major character death
A new set of Mega Bloks may have accidentally spoiled a major plot point for Halo Infinite. This comes only a few days after Microsoft officially teased The Banished — a Brute faction from Halo Wars 2 — as the game’s primary enemy.
[Warning: Potential spoilers for Halo Infinite ahead.]
One of the Halo-themed Mega Bloks sets features a new enemy commander, Hyperius. A close look at Hyperius’ armor reveals a Spartan helmet attached to his right shoulder. The helmet looks nearly identical to that of Locke, one of the two protagonists for Halo 5: Guardians.
At the end of Halo 5: Guardians, Locke is still working to thwart Cortana’s plans. This new development suggests something either happened to Locke between Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, or that something will happen to him early in the game. And while it’s possible that Hyperius could be wearing Locke’s helmet as a trophy while keeping Locke captive, it seems more likely that Locke is dead.
You can see a good shot of Hyperius and the helmet in the ad for the Defense Point Showdown set. Mega Bloks’ other Halo Infinite sets suggest some more potential spoilers for the game, like a unique Pelican with the ability to open up and a new Banished vehicle called the Skiff.
Microsoft is set to fully unveil Halo Infinite later this month, in its July Xbox 20/20 broadcast showcasing first-party Xbox Series X games. It’s possible that we could learn about Locke’s fate there, similar to how Bungie fully revealed the death of Cayde-6 ahead of Destiny 2: Forsaken’s launch in 2018. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for comment, and we’ll update this article with any information we receive.
Halo Infinite is set to launch alongside the Xbox Series X this holiday season. The game will also be available on Windows PC and Xbox One.
