Baby Wario is back, and he’s a doctor now

In a horrifying new update, Nintendo announced on Wednesday the addition of a new, playable doctor to Dr. Mario World: Dr. Baby Wario. Not only has the corporate video game executive and garlic/fart connoisseur achieved his doctorate in medicine, he managed it before even growing his infamous, zigzag mustache.

The tweet announcing the new doctor claims that he “cute,” but the giant molars at age 1 suggest otherwise. Dr. Baby Wario will arrive in Dr. Mario World on Friday, June 26, at 6 a.m. EDT, so you can get your early morning Wario fix.

This is not the first time we’ve seen Baby Wario’s gaping and toothy maw. He originally appeared in Yoshi’s Island DS, which Nintendo launched on its dual-screen system back in 2006. Baby Wario was even featured on that game’s box art, alongside Baby Bowser, Baby Peach, Baby Donkey Kong, and, of course, Baby Mario. Wario used the same giant magnet shown in his doctoral portrait to solve puzzles and collect coins in Yoshi’s Island DS — although we’re unsure what he plans to use it for in the medical field.

It’s worth noting that Baby Wario is a deep cut for Dr. Mario World to pull, having already added Dry Bones Bowser, a generic Koopa, and a stack of Goombas in a lab coat as doctors. We don’t mean to denigrate the good Dr. Baby Wario, but something clearly happens to knock him out of medicine and into WarioWare in his middle age.
