Yakuza Spin-Off Lost Judgment Confirmed, Live Event Running Now
Yesterday, the Yakuza spin-off Lost Judgment was leaked and today, it’s been officially confirmed with a live event now ongoing on YouTube.
“Judgment was originally released by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio in 2018 on PS4,” executive director Toshihiro Nagoshi opened, “Differing from the mainline Yakuza series, it’s a legal suspense action game, which is a new genre for us. And today, we’re announcing a new title in the series.
“The script writing required countless hours to get right, and we recorded over 1,000 minutes of voiced dialog for the cutscenes. Not to mention the pressure to create something even greater than the original. However, we heard fans from around the world who wanted a sequel. And our desire to give fans what they wanted only grew from there.”
The first Judgment placed you into the shoes of private detective Takayuki Yagami where you were investigating a serial-murder in Kamurocho. Its combat is most comparable to Yakuza 0 and, for this new sequel, it’s been amped up due to the positive reception that players had. However, what differs is that Judgment brought forward parkour with wall-running and leapfrogging.
It even shares similarities to the likes of Hitman with disguises that can be used to sneak into locations otherwise inaccessible so that you can gather intel for your case. Or, you can lock pick and nosy about. What’s more, its friendship system was designed akin to dating simulators, adding some depth to the relationships you make along the way.
Lost Judgment launches September 24.
