The First BlizzConline Is Happening Next February

There is no BlizzCon for 2020. That announcement was made earlier this year when Blizzard said they’d move the annual event online to avoid an enormous COVID-19 outbreak (and to comply with local health authorities and government bans on large gatherings). We weren’t told exactly when in 2021 this virtual event will take place, but we knew it’d be early next year.

Well, now we know precisely when. February 19 and 20 are the new dates for BlizzConline, the online event that will showcase the latest and greatest from Blizzard.

“While circumstances are keeping us from gathering in person this year, we’re putting together a little something early next year to channel the spirit of BlizzCon into the form of an online show,” wrote Blizzard in their latest news update. “We still have a lot of planning to do, and it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more details—but we wanted to provide a heads-up on how you can be a part of the online fun.”

We don’t know much of what BlizzConline will entail, but we do know there will be a Community Showcase that will feature the wonderful creations from artists and cosplayers that we’ve come to expect every year at BlizzCon. Additionally, Blizzard will host a Cosplay Contest in January where both winners and non-winners will be shown during the Community Showcase at BlizzConline.

The only other confirmed virtual event will be the March of the Murlocs, a BlizzCon phenomenon where everyone dresses up like a Murloc to walk about the convention center. That won’t be possible in 2021, so instead, Blizzard is asking everyone to send in photos and videos of them marching in their best Murloc costumes at home. Then they’ll stitch the footage together to create a virtual March of the Murlocs.

Details to getting into the Murloc March can be found here. We’ll be sure to update you all with more on BlizzConline as Blizzard makes further announcements.
