Spider-Man PS5 remaster still makes you choose between graphics and frame rate
Insomniac has described how the PS5 remaster of Spider-Man will differ from the PS4 original, including ray-tracing and fast loading.
If you only watched the PlayStation 5 showcases (which seems a perfectly reasonable position to be in) you wouldn’t even know there was a remaster of PlayStation 4 game Marvel’s Spider-Man coming to the new console.
Sony hasn’t really mentioned it publicly, or the fact that it’s not available separately but only as part of the more expensive Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
Unless they’re just embarrassed at the price (£69.99 in the UK) it’s not clear why they’re being so weird about it but developer Insomniac has just tweeted out some new details.
What’s disappointing though is that you’ll still be forced to chose between a ‘targeted 60fps frame rate’ and the best graphics, even though it’s only a remaster of a PlayStation 4 game.
On top of all that there’ll also be three new suits, new photo mode features, and new Trophies. Plus, the three-part The City That Never Sleeps DLC expansion will be added from the start.
We already know that the game is not compatible with saves from the PlayStation 4 version and while it won’t be available separately Insomniac has implied there may be an upgrade option if you only buy the standard edition on PlayStation 5.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released on 19 November in the UK, the same day as the PlayStation 5 in Europe.
