Remnant From The Ashes Sequel Announced At The Game Awards
Remnant 2, the sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, has just been announced at The Game Awards. The highly successful looter shooter was a surprise hit in 2019, and developer Gunfire Games is hoping lightning will strike twice in Remnant 2.
The original Remnant: From the Ashes is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth that has been destroyed by The Root, a weird wood-like growth that takes over a world and kills its inhabitants, manifesting as monstrous growths and even more terrifying enemies. In the first game, players discover that humanity actually brought the Root to Earth through failed experiments that attempted to link other worlds using the human subconscious. Instead, the experiment attracted the Root and ended humanity.
But not entirely. Survivors still fight to destroy the Root and take back Earth. It seems that fight will continue in Remnant 2.
According to Gunfire Games, Remnant 2 will feature the same three-player co-op as the first title along with its signature mixture of ranged and melee combat. You can still play alone, but that might make things far more difficult for novice players. Expect new enemies, new weapons, new gear, and "multiple" new worlds to explore. There will also be branching quest lines, augments, crafting, loot, and an expanded Archetype system that will provide unique passive bonuses and stunning new powers. And if it's anything like the first Remnant, it's going to be a smash hit.
Remnant 2 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2023. Sign up for updates on the official site here and wishlist it on Steam.
