Redfall Release Date Revealed, Launches May 2
Redfall is one of Microsoft's most highly-anticipated exclusives to be launching in 2023, and now we have a release date to jot down in our calendars. Announced during the joint Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct that took place on Wednesday, it's been confirmed that Redfall will launch on May 2 for Xbox Series X and PC. The title will also launch on Xbox Game Pass, something which is actually scaring developer Arkane a little bit due to the prospect of so many players jumping in at the same time.
Alongside this release date announcement, we also got a detailed breakdown that showcased some more of what to expect when the title launches in four months. We got to see several new locations across Redfall, each one hand-crafted with storytelling in mind, some new enemies and the abilities they'll use against you, procedurally generated vampire lairs, and some new safe areas that include survivors you can talk with and accept missions from. We also got to see some of the abilities that playable characters can use, including teleportation and a very loud robot you can use to distract enemies.
If you're unfamiliar with Redfall, or this is the first time you're hearing about it, the game is being developed by Arkane Studios, the team behind other titles such as Dishonored and Deathloop. It's a semi-open-world first-person shooter that can be played with up to three friends, and sees you taking down legions of vampires in the island town of Redfall. If you're more of a lone wolf, Redfall can also be played solo and Arkane has stated that the game will be just as fun to play on your own as it is with friends.
As for what else was announced during the show, Tango Gameworks surprised everyone with the announcement of Hi-Fi Rush, a new action-adventure rhythm game that is available on Xbox right now. We also got a new trailer for Forza Motorsport which promises to be one of the most advanced racing games ever made, and a release date for Minecraft Legends which is set to launch in April later this year.
