PS5 UK orders are live at GAME, for now…

GAME is finally taking new PS5 launch day orders but only while stock lasts and with a new release date.

It’s been a frustrating morning for most game fans, as while many stores do seem to have got new stock of the PlayStation 5 most sites have collapsed under the weight of people trying to get access.

Amazon’s promised 12pm start never materialised and for a while there it looked like GAME would have to give up their plans entirely, but now they’re back and taking orders again.

You’re still going to have to be very lucky to get one though as not only will stock be limited but the site is incredibly slow and unreliable at the moment. It’s also listing the release date as 10/12/20, which seems ominous.

There’s nowhere else that’s likely to offer any orders today, with Currys PC World having given up, the sites for John Lewis and Tesco still being down, and Asda never having made good on their promise to start orders ‘this morning’.

The websites for Very, Smyths, and other retailers are still live, but they never seem to have had any stock all day – or if they did it was only for a few minutes.

The most reliable place to order though still seems to be via BT or EE, if you’re an existing customer. It’s not clear how much stock they have but we’ve had several people contact us today to say their order seemed to go through.

If you don’t get a PlayStation 5 today then more stock should become available closer to Christmas, although that raises the problem of whether it will be delivered in time – which is not happening with some GAME orders today.
