PS Plus July 2020 free games lineup could be a unique one for PlayStation, here’s why
First introduced on the PlayStation 3, the official PS Plus July lineup could be treated a little differently due to it being the Tenth Anniversary of the subscription’s launch next week.
Sony hasn’t said anything about celebrating the milestone, but there is never much talk ahead of a PlayStation Plus reveal.
Fans aren’t so sure that anything big will be happening to commemorate the PlayStation Plus service, but there is always the hope that Sony could choose to do things in style.
We already had plenty of high-profile first-party games released for free as part of the membership scheme, and it would make for a cracking way to ring its tenth anniversary.
Titles like God of War and Days Gone could always be chosen, with plenty of other games to choose from.

While we don’t know if any extra free games or bonuses will be available in July to mark the milestone, we do know about a few other things planned.
PS Plus subscribers will be able to take advantage of a huge Sony and Rockstar giveaway on PS4.
Rockstar recently announced plans to bring an expanded version of GTA 5 to next-gen consoles in 2021.
The PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto 5 will feature improved visuals and performance, as well as some new content.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the announcement of GTA 5 on PlayStation 5, PS Plus subscribers will receive GTA$1,000,000 to spend in GTA Online.
Far from being a one-time only deal, PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive the same amount each month until the launch on GTA Online on PS5.
With GTA 5 launching in the second half of 2021, that’s potentially 18 months of free money for Grand Theft Auto fans.
The official announcement adds: “The new generation versions of GTAV will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever,” the post reads.
“Additionally, all PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 will get GTA$1,000,000 (deposited into their in-game Maze Bank account within 72 hours of log-in) each month they play GTA Online until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5.”
The reveal of the next PS Plus free games lineup might take a little longer than usual, due to the way the dates fall and affect the PlayStation Store refresh.
The next batch of PlayStation Plus releases should be available to download on July 7, which means they won’t be revealed until July 1.
There’s a chance the dates could change, especially after Sony ripped up the script for the June 2020 reveal.
The best thing to do will be to keep an eye on Sony’s official PlayStation social media accounts heading into the final week of June.
Until the big switch happens, gamers can add Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Call of Duty WWII to their PSN accounts.
