Pokemon Go New Year’s Event Details Revealed
2022 is almost here, and that means games are gearing up for their New Year's events. Pokemon Go has announced a whole bunch of goodies and events coming to the game, but it seems Slowpoke isn't ready to let go of 2020 just yet. New costumes, themed avatar items, party hats, and Shiny Pokemon will be coming your way as the Season of Heritage continues.
You'll be able to continue the season story after a gift exchange with Spark, who has decided to throw a party to bring in the new year. And as parties usually go, 'mons will flock to your shindig, with fireworks lighting things up from December 31, 2021 to January 2, 2022. During this time you'll have access to double Hatch Stardust and Hatch Candy, as well as Hatch Distance being halved.
Pokemon will also be dressed up in costumes to celebrate the new year. You'll encounter a number of 'mons in party hats and maybe even encounter a Shiny Hoothoot. It seems that Slowpoke and Slowbro are a bit late to the party, as they'll come with 2020 and 2021 themed glasses. Slowking is on point though, with a 2022 themed pair.
The wild will be teeming with festive Pokemon for you to encounter, including Pikachu, Seel, Slowpoke, Hoothoot, Stantler, Wurmple, Loudred, and if you're really lucky, a Shiny Fearow. The Raids will be changing things up, with Kyurem showing up for the Five-Star Raid and a Mega Raid featuring Abomasnow.
Of course, the 'mons aren't the only ones that'll be decked up for the party. You'll be able to grab 2022 Glasses, New Year’s Headbands, Jacket Sets, Pants, and Shoes for your avatars from the in-game shop.
It's been a hell of a year for Niantic and Pokemon Go. The game was one among eight mobile games that earned over $1 billion this year. According to a report by Sensor Tower, these eight games hit the one billion mark purely on consumer spending. The rest of the list includes PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Genshin Impact, Roblox, Coin Master, Candy Crush Saga, and Garena Free Fire.
