Pokemon Go: Bug Out Event Guide

It's time for another Pokemon Go in-game event, this time featuring Bug-Type Pokemon new and existing in the game. This event, titled the Bug Out Event, will not only be showcasing this type of Pokemon, but will also be making several bonuses available to those who log in during the event window.

The Bug Out Event will take place from Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 10 a.m. to Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 8 p.m. local time. Although this event will only be available for a short duration, there will be several changes to Pokemon Go during this time. Pokemon Debuts

Going along with the theme of this event, there will be different Bug-type Pokemon making their Pokemon Go debuts. First is Grubbin appearing in the Wild starting at the beginning of this event. Make sure to log in and adventure during this time to maximize your chances of encountering and catching this Pokemon for the first time.

You will be able to use 25 Grubbin Candy to evolve it into Charjabug, its first evolution. Additionally, when near an active Magnetic Lure Module, you can use 100 Grubbin Candy to evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt; this Pokemon family's final evolution.

Mega Scizor will also be making its Pokemon Go debut at the start of this event. You will be able to battle it in Mega Raids; presenting you with a difficult battle. If defeated, you will earn yourself an encounter with Mega Scizor; providing you a chance to catch Mega Scizor for the first time.

Wild Encounters

During this event, the Pokemon that will appear in the wild will be different from those that typically do in your location. These Pokemon will be Bug-type, so make sure that you are logging in to encounter and catch the following event-themed Pokemon.

During the Bug Out Event, the Pokemon appearing in Raids will also change to fit the Bug-type theme. These Pokemon will differ depending on the difficulty of the Raid; some requiring the help of other Trainers in order to be successful. These Pokemon are provided below; as well as which tier of Raid they can be found in.

Field Research Encounters

When completing Field Research tasks during this event, those that reward you with Pokemon Encounters will feature event-themed Pokemon. Make sure that you are completing these tasks during the event window for a chance to encounter one of the following Pokemon.

Additional Bonuses And Features

There will be a Group Bonus available during this event. When three or more Trainers join up in an in-person Raid Battle, a specific Bug-type Pokemon will spawn at an increased rate in a 300-meter radius around that specific Raid location for 15 minutes. One of the following Bug-type Pokemon will appear when the Group Bonus is activated; varying depending on the day.

There will also be a Bug-themed Collection Challenge available during the time of this event. If you collect all required Pokemon prior to the end of this event you will receive the Collection Challenge Medal, in addition to 15,000 XP and the Bug Catcher Pose.

If you do not wish to complete this Collection Challenge, the Bug Catcher Pose will also be available for purchase at the in-game shop.

During this event, you will also receive double XP for successfully catching Pokemon with either Nice Throws, Great Throws, or Excellent Throws. Additionally, when taking photos during the event window, you have a chance of a surprise encounter with a Bug-type Pokemon.
