Pokemon Go Beyond Might Be The Game’s Biggest Update Ever, Starts November 30

It seems that Pokemon Go has decided to take a page out of No Man’s Sky’s DLC naming playbook. Either that or someone at Niantic is a big fan of My Hero Academia. Either way, Go Beyond is the next big update coming to Pokemon Go, and it’s a doozy.

Pokemon Go Beyond arrives on November 30th and it brings a whole bunch of changes, starting with the experience grind. Currently, the cap is set at level 40, but that’s going to change to level 50 starting at the end of the month. To get people up to the current cap quickly, you’ll earn double catch XP starting today, and starting November 30th you’ll get even more bonus XP for everything from catching to hatching to evolving your Pokemon.

Why the rush? Two reasons. First, there are special rewards for making it to level 40 before the end of 2020. Get level 40 before December 31st at 11:59 and you’ll get an exclusive Gyarados Hat avatar item and a Legacy 40 medal. Second, getting from level 40 to level 50 is going to require you to complete 10 new Level-Up Research Tasks.

Next up are brand new Seasons that will change the way you play. Different Pokemon will start migrating in and out of regions depending on the season, and each season will be marked by special in-game events. Season of Celebration will start us off on December 1st, 2020, at 8 AM local time, and introduces Gen 6 Pokemon from the Kalos Region. Seasons will also update the game more regularly with more Mega Evolutions, Go Battle League format changes, rankings, and rewards.

Speaking of the Kalos Region, the first wave of new Pokemon has been announced. Those Gen 6ers that are going to appear first include:

  • Chespin
  • Quilladin
  • Chesnaught
  • Fennekin
  • Braixen
  • Delphox
  • Froakie
  • Frogadier
  • Greninja
  • Bunnelby
  • Diggersby
  • Fletchling
  • Fletchinder
  • Talonflame
  • Litleo
  • Pyroar
  • Klefki (only in France)

Kalos Region Pokemon will appear more frequently from December 2nd to December 8th in order to give everyone a week to try and catch ’em all.

Go Beyond will also bring QOL improvements to encountering and catching Pokémon, Adventure Sync, Buddy Adventure, Field Research, Gifts, and more. You can read the whole thing over on the Pokemon Go website here.
