Persona 4 Golden features a number of characters that your Investigation Team is tasked with saving from both the Midnight Channel and from themselves. One such character is Kanji Tatsumi, the edgy punk rebel who’s trying to come to terms with his “feminine” hobbies.

In the Steamy Bathhouse, you’ll be helping Kanji confront his sense of masculinity and come to terms with liking whatever he likes, regardless of who has what to say about it. And if you need a bit of help with the shadows, Personas, and mini-boss fights in P4’s Steamy Bathhouse dungeon, you’ve come to the right place.

We’re focused on combat here, but our guide for the Steamy Bathhouse may still contain spoilers for the story of Persona 4 Golden.

Things To Know Before Going Into The Steamy Bathhouse

While you got a taste for P4G’s dungeon-crawling mechanic with Yukiko’s Castle, Kanji’s Steamy Bathhouse expands on what you’ve learned rapidly. For many players, it’s the first real challenge of the game.

Kanji's Steamy Bathhouse unlocks on 5/19. After this, you have until 6/4 to finish the dungeon and defeat its boss before Kanji meets a tragic fate.

Recommended Level

With difficulty beginning to ramp up in the Steamy Bathhouse in P4G, we recommend being around Lv. 25 for the most comfortable crawl through the dungeon.

If you’re not there yet or are experiencing difficulty on the lower floors of the dungeon, be sure you’re doing some grinding in your off-time before pushing too far ahead.

You’ll do a good amount of leveling inside Kanji's Bathhouse, too, so just be sure to be between Lv. 25-28 before attempting the boss fight.

Shadows And Personas In Kanji’s Steamy Bathhouse

Like the previous dungeon, the Steamy Bathhouse in P4G features a wide range of Personas that may be inside each shadow you encounter.

They’re tougher now than they were previously, so be sure to expand your Persona stock as needed to accommodate new enemies and affinities.

While the Investigation Team members specializes in one element each, and Yu can fill the gaps. Make smart use of your wild card ability!

Steamy Bathhouse Walkthrough

Since most of the dungeons in Persona 4 Golden are randomized in their floor plan, we can’t give you a step-by-step guide to each floor. While certain floors in each dungeon are pre-scripted with story events, the majority of your exploration will be random.

The ultimate goal of each bathhouse floor is finding the stairs so you can head up to the next, repeating the process over until you reach floors with plot points or boss fights.

We’ve got entire guides for each boss that go more into detail on their fight, so check those out for more specific info on each!

Steamy Bathhouse, Bath #7 – Daring Gigas

As soon as you arrive at the seventh floor, Teddie warns you it’s “really steamy.” This is your cue to heal up before heading into the door ahead.

There are a few shadows as you make your way through the area, but unless you need to grind, it may be best to avoid them to save your HP and SP for the bigger fight.

We almost always recommend grinding in Persona games whenever possible, but with a mini-boss fight dead ahead, there are better times!

Head to the door marked on your mini-map, and the fight with Daring Gigas will begin after a cutscene.

The fight rewards you with Bathhouse Key. It gives you a shortcut before you're able to regain control of the party again, so finish up on this floor and head out when you’re ready.

Steamy Bathhouse, Bath #11

This is the final floor of the Steamy Bathhouse dungeon. Heal up outside the main door and enter when you’re ready to begin the fight against Shadow Kanji.

Should you choose to return to the dungeon after defeating it, it’s also where you face Intolerant Officer.

Just as before, Teddie will warn you that he can sense Kanji just past the door. This is your cue that the boss fight against Shadow Kanji is about to begin.

Be sure you've healed the party before going inside – Shadow Kanji and his two goons are renowned for being one of the harder boss fights in Persona 4 Golden!
