There’s a small chance that the Nintendo Switch Pro could be revealed this week via a surprise Direct event.

Reports have been swirling since the start of the month regarding the Japanese games giant and its latest hardware upgrade.

It seems pretty certain now that Nintendo will be announcing a Switch Pro upgrade sometime soon.

Leaks linking the company to a new console have been picking up speed, and the latest on the subject is that the new Nintendo Switch console could be revealed before E3 2021.

This might seem like the perfect event to reveal such big news, but recent reports suggest that Nintendo would want to use E3 to showcase new games.

Instead, Nintendo is reportedly planning to reveal the Nintendo Switch Pro before E3, leaving room for everything to be showcased in due time.

This would also leave the door open to the new system being released during 2021 rather than 2022.

The Nintendo Switch Pro will reportedly launch in either September or October this year.

This contradicts previous reports that the console wouldn’t launch until early 2022.

Interestingly, the report suggests that Nintendo isn’t particularly worried about stock shortages, despite similar issues plaguing the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

That’s because the new Nintendo Switch Pro will use more readily available components.

The only bad news is that the Nintendo Switch Pro will reportedly carry a higher price tag than the current model.

So when could the Nintendo Switch Pro be announced? According to the latest reports, the company could be planning a Nintendo Direct event for Thursday, June 3, or Friday, June 4.

Nintendo reveals best selling indie games of 2020

This would mean Nintendo revealing its plans in the next 24-hours to make way for the special event to take place.

Nothing has been mentioned so far by Nintendo, so gamers will have to wait and see what happens next.

The only big hardware announcement by Nintendo recently is the reveal that the Nintendo Switch Lite would be hitting the market in a different colour.

The announcement revealed the set release date for the Switch variant, informing interested gamers.

“On May 21, a Nintendo Switch Lite system is launching with a new blue colour. The blue Nintendo Switch Lite will be available for purchase at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

“By expanding the existing range of colour options for the system, which includes coral, yellow, grey and turquoise, the blue Nintendo Switch Lite gives you more options to express your personal gaming style wherever you choose to play.

“Nintendo Switch Lite is designed for handheld play, making it easy to bring the wide library of Nintendo Switch games with you and transform any of life’s moments into a grand adventure.

“As a dedicated handheld gaming device, Nintendo Switch Lite has integrated controls and is smaller and lighter than the Nintendo Switch. It’s compatible with all the games in the Nintendo Switch library that support handheld mode.

“The upcoming humorous adventure game Miitopia also launches separately on May 21, the same day as the debut of the blue Nintendo Switch Lite. In Miitopia, you can star in a hilarious adventure alongside your family and friends. Cast anyone you choose on a comedy-filled quest to bring down the face-stealing Dark Lord.”

In comparison, the Nintendo Switch Pro is expected to cost quite a bit more, reportedly retailing closer to $399.00.
