Kylian Mbappé Scored The Most Goals In FIFA This Year

Electronic Arts has released some end-of-year stats for 2021, and they show that players from around the world have been doing a lot of gaming this year. The video games company's 2021: Year In Gaming shows off some pretty big numbers. They also reveal that Apex Legends and EA Sports FIFA were the most popular titles in EA's portfolio.

In FIFA 21, EA revealed that players had taken to the virtual pitch to score more than 22 billion goals. Across the 9.7 billion matches that were played this year, EA recorded 22.3 billion goals scored. A specific player meanwhile might have had a hand in at least several hundred million of those goals, at least.

Kylian Mbappé has some ridiculous stats in the FIFA games. This is not inaccurate since the real-life player is pretty tasty too, of course. But EA's Year in Gaming shows that the PSG forward and France international is the Top Player By Most Goals Scored. It helps too that Paris Saint-Germain is the Top Team By Most Matches Played, and that the most popular matchup was PSG vs. Liverpool.

In real life, Mbappé is one of the highest paid athletes in the world. He won the 2018 FIFA World Cup, scoring in the final against Croatia (which France won 4-2), and which makes him only the second teenager to score in a final, after Pelé. The 22-year-old has won three Ligue 1 titles, and has finished as top scorer in the premier French division in three consecutive seasons.

In the land of video games, the PSG attacker is just as potent, if not more so, considering the sheer number of goals FIFA players have scored. According to FIFA Index, Mbappé is the #1 Fastest Striker and Attacker, and among the Best Strikers. His official FIFA stats, at the time of writing, are 97 Pace and 88 Shooting, with an overall rating of 91.

FIFA games tend to favour fast and quick players, and Mbappé is among the most rapid of them all, while his finishing is also top notch. PSG meanwhile are stacked with high stats players, such as Neymar and Messi, so the attacker has plenty of support. But in real life, PSG still lack a Champions League cup, and Mbappé a Champions League medal so the young forward still has that major accolade missing in his already well-stocked medals cupboard.
