Kingdom Hearts Easter Egg Spotted In The Proud Family: Louder And Prouder

A Kingdom Hearts reference has been spotted in an episode of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

For whatever reason, Disney doesn't often reference Kingdom Hearts within its shows and films, with the number of easter eggs and appearances outside of the games countable on one hand.

Thanks to the latest episode of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, we can now add one more to the pile. As spotted by KH13, the eighth episode of the show, "Home School", features Penny calling her friend KG to ask for a favour.

During the scene where KG is on a video call to Penny, we can see that the character is playing on a video game. On the left-hand side of the screen we can see a character that looks like Sora, who is clearly in his Dive to the Heart. The UI even resembles Kingdom Hearts, with the same attack menu and character profile on the left and right sides of the screen.

To really dive deep into the reference, Sora's outfit is clearly modelled after how he looked as a kid in Birth by Sleep. On another screen, we can see Destiny Islands, which is clearly shown through the palm trees, sea, and Paopu Fruit.

The Loud House's production coordinator, Breana Williams, commented on the easter egg's inclusion, saying, "It's really wild cuz I didn't realize the KH 20th anniversary would be happening as our episode would air. Thank you to the director of this ep for asking me "Hey Bre what videogame should KG play?" And immediately I thought…why not Kingdom Hearts? Or rather a Kingdom Hearts 1 inspired looking game. And BIG THANKS to the design team."

Considering the general lack of Kingdom Hearts references in Disney shows, it's interesting to note that this is the second easter egg found in the last month, with another reference recently spotted in the Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse Spring Special. These shows were storyboarded years ago, so it's a coincidence, but a very happy one for the fans.
