Horizon Forbidden West Became The Most Watched State Of Play In Just One Day
The Horizon Forbidden West-focused State of Play has quickly become the most-watched single game State of Play in just one day.
Looking at the YouTube views for the stream shows that the State of Play is at a sizeable 4.3 million views, which it has achieved in three days. According to PushSquare, the footage had already beaten every other game-focused State of Play in less than a day, where it hit 2.5 million views.
Comparing this to other similar State of Play showcases shows just how well Forbidden West has done in such a small time limit. The Ratchet & Clank focused stream is currently at less than a million views, whilst the Demons Souls showcase has 2.2 million views. For some last-gen comparisons, the Ghost of Tsushima State of Play has 1.9 million views and The Last of Us Part 2 stream managed 1.5 million.
The Horizon showcase even eclipses some of the general State of Play events, speeding past this year’s February showcase that sits at 1.9 million views. All of this is to say that Horizon Forbidden West has easily achieved the status of most viewed State of Play so far.
Of course, this isn’t counting the PS5 reveal stream which has an almighty 15 million views under its belt and would hardly be a fair comparison. That stream also wasn’t marketed as a State of Play, which means that the crown still sits firmly on Horizon Forbidden West’s head.
There are a few different takeaways from this feat. For starters, it’s clear that Horizon is one of the most anticipated PlayStation titles, which shouldn’t be too surprising considering the first game’s success. It’s also important to note how close this showcase happened to E3, which likely boosted the numbers as plenty of gamers are getting ready and excited for gaming news.
In other PlayStation news, Sony has claimed that God of War: Ragnarok is not the sequel’s finalised name, following the appearance of a logo and sub-title on an official financial report.
