Homeworld 3 Delayed To 2023
Homeworld 3 has been delayed into 2023, Gearbox has just revealed. The RTS was originally set to launch late 2022, but in order for the game to be made in a "healthy and sustainable way", it is being pushed back into 2023.
The announcement does come with some good news, however: we're going to get a new trailer at Gamescom this year. This will apparently be the deepest look we've had of the game yet, hopefully suggesting that the new release date won't be too far into 2023.
"We are moving the launch of Homeworld 3 into the first half of 2023", the statement opens. "The passion from players fuels the work and the additional time will allow us to make good on our commitment to quality in a healthy and sustainable way for all those involved.
"Blackbird Interactive is building the Homeworld game that players have always dreamed of and we are excited to share
the deepest look yet at Homeworld 3 during gamescom later this summer. We thank you all for your continued support."
Mentioning that the game should be made in a "healthy and sustainable" way is likely in reference to the studio's four-day work week, which it adopted earlier this year. With any luck, this will help the developers avoid crunch time towards the end of development.
Homeworld 3 will now launch in the "first half" of 2023. There is no specific release window beyond that.
