Grounded Gets A Release Date And Final Pre-Launch Update
Grounded, otherwise known as 'Honey I Shrunk The Kids – The Game' has been in its testing phase for quite a while now. The game has constantly evolved during this time, as the devs would try out or throw out various features. However, it seems that the team is finally happy with the state of the game, as it has received an official launch date – September 27.
It's been two years no, that Grounded has been in the public test server phase. The team is currently testing out update 0.14, but on the occasion of the game's two year anniversary, the final release date was announced.
"Today marks two years for Grounded," said a tweet by the game's official channel. We love you all and are thankful to share this journey with you. As a special treat, Game Director Adam Brennecke is here to share some exciting news, such as what's coming in the next flight and the release date!
In the video, Brennecke thanked players for testing out the game and helping the developers with feedback. He also took the opportunity to mention the Grounded TV series which was announced earlier this month. Lastly, he mentioned that update 0.14 was the last one coming to the public flight test, and it will include a secret feature called The Home Stretch, which will build up to the 1.0 release of the game, scheduled for September 27.
As for the Grounded TV series, the adaptation will be written by Star Wars: Clone Wars' Brent Friedman. He will reportedly be working along with Brien Goodrich, who previously worked on the Halo games. The project is the result of Obsidian and Xbox partnering with Waterproof Studios/SC Productions, Kinetic Media, and Bardel Entertainment.
Much like the game, the plot will revolve around four school friends getting shrunken down to two inches before their first year of high school. The shrinking technology is part of "a vast corporate conspiracy threatening their entire town," but before they can deal with that, the four of them must survive a world that's now much too big for them.
