Games Done Quick 2022 Line Up Revealed, Featuring Everything From Half-Life: Alyx To Warioware: Touched

Games Done Quick is coming back, and as usual, it will host a wild variety of games spanning various console generations and genres. From recent titles such as Elden Ring, Half-Life: Alyx, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land, to classics like Final Fantasy 6, Knuckles' Chaotix, and Ninja Gaiden, there's something for everyone at the marathon speedrunning event.

This year's event, which kicks off June 26, also marks the welcome return to playing in-person, which also means a return to having a bunch of people huddled around the couch to watch the runner in action. Many viewers missed this when the show was forced to go online-only in 2020 and 2021, so it's set to be a lively marathon, with a whole lot of money raised for charity.

While many runners will be returning to the coach this year, portions of GDQ will still be held online. This both enables runners who don't feel safe travelling to participate, and allows for more diversity on the roster, as those who live abroad don't have to fork out for flights and hotels. The game roster will tell you if a run is going to be held in person or online, but all will be available to watch for those of us at home.

While there are far too many games to go over, here are some of the titles that have caught our eye:

  • Control
  • Crash Bandicoot 2
  • Pokemon Emerald Randomizer
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • Yakuza Like a Dragon
  • Metroid Dread
  • F-Zero GX
  • Final Fantasy 10 (a four hour long run)

The last GDQ event, Awesome Games Done Quick, broke event records by raising over $3,400,000 for charity. Not bad going, considering it was all held online. With the event's takings in a near-constant upwards trajectory, it's possible that it'll raise even more when it returns next month.
