Fortnite May Finally Get Weapon Charms

Fortnite has so many skins and cosmetic items that unless a big new character like Deadpool has just arrived on the island, everyone probably looks pretty unique. The one way in which people playing multiplayer games can customize their characters still missing from Fortnite is weapon charms. A recent datamine suggests that may be about to change.

According to PCGamesN, dataminers have discovered evidence suggesting Epic will be adding a cosmetic archiving feature in the near future. A handy tool for anyone who has been playing Fortnite for a long time and needs a better way to store their purchased and unlocked items. Odds are some of those lockers are looking pretty busy right now, and finding the perfect fit gets harder with each passing season.

The data strings describing the various items you will be able to store and archive include skins, emotes, and yes, you guessed it, weapon charms. For those unfamiliar with what exactly weapon charms are, they're exactly what they sound like. Small items that you can attach or hang from your weapons to make them your own. As is the case with every other type of cosmetic item already available in Fortnite, there would be an almost endless number of possibilities when it comes to weapon charms.

Epic could add everything from an Infinity Gauntlet to a tiny lightsaber. There are a couple of caveats here, though. First of all, just because something is found in Fortnite's code doesn't mean it is definitely destined for the game. We're all still waiting for that Family Guy crossover. Secondly, this is the first time a datamine has unearthed a weapon charms clue. Something similar was discovered during Chapter 2 and noting came of it.

Since a first-person mode for Fortnite is reportedly in the works, weapon charms would make sense. If you were to play the game in first-person, most of your cosmetic choices, including skins and backbling, would be hidden behind the camera. Your weapon's skin and a charm hanging from it, however, would be front and center. Nothing official from Epic just yet, but you can unlock Thor Odinsson and The Mighty Thor in-game right now for 2,500 V-Bucks.
