Final Fantasy 14 Island Sanctuary Update Adds New Animals, Ranks, And More

Final Fantasy 14 will be getting new animals, ranks, and more in the upcoming Island Sanctuary update, something recently announced by developer Square Enix. The exciting prospect has been rapidly spreading throughout the community in the meantime.

The news comes from the popular “community source for Square Enix games including Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, and more” known as Nova Crystallis. According to the industry watcher, “Island Sanctuary will be updated with new sanctuary ranks and visions. New item rewards will be added. New materials, crops, animals, and Isleworks Handicrafts will be added. New structures and improved interfaces will be added.”

When it comes to the new interfaces, players will have the “option to collect all available yields/ leavings at once. Animals under care will also be eligible for release upon a new animal's capture.” Players will additionally have the “ability to save Orchestron settings. Island visitors will now hear the Islekeep's Orchestrion. Notifications display for visitors.”

The game will apparently also be getting some adjustments to job assignments. “There will be adjustments to usability for certain actions,” Nova Crystallis noted. “Significant adjustments extending to action rotations will be applied to Paladin.” The industry watcher went on to describe how “the objective of these adjustments is to improve the ability to deal burst damage by adjusting action efficiency and rotations and to improve versatility by decreasing reliance on damage over time. Improving the usability of certain defensive actions is also the goal for Paladin.”

“Rotations have been shortened to accommodate high powered actions,” Nova Crystallis remarked. “Damage over time effect for Goring Blade and Blade of Valor was removed and their potency adjusted. Divine Might is now applied after weapon skill combos, allowing an enhanced Holy Spirit to be executed without cast. Holy Sheltron's effect has been changed to reduce damage taken, thereby enhancing defensive capability against damage over time. The previously removed Bulwark ability has been revamped and reintroduced, offering increased defensive capability.” The utility of other actions have been adjusted as well.
