UFC 4’s announcement trailer confirms a couple of previously leaked details, like playable Tyson Fury, and provides some new ones.

Over the weekend, an MMA event, the UFC 251, took place, which was where EA chose to officially announce its latest new sports title: UFC 4.

While we did already know about the game’s existence, this announcement served as the first proper confirmation for a number of details, plus a release date of 14 August on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The trailer primarily focuses on the game’s two cover stars, Jorge Masvidal and Israel Adesanya, and confirms that pre-ordering the game will unlock Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua as playable fighters.

We also got a quick look at a few of the arenas. Aside from the traditional UFC venue, matches can also take place in a backyard and one called the Kumite, which looks like an ancient temple and is described as ‘a venue that pays homage to the old lore of MMA.’

EA’s website provides some additional info regarding the actual gameplay, where it talks about the game’s new Real Player Motion Technology, which has been designed to make fights feel more authentic.

No exact details have been provided for the game’s single-player mode, where you start as an unknown and work your way up to MMA stardom, but the site does describe a Blitz Battles online mode.

In Blitz Battles, you take part in a six round rapid-fire tournament, which also features a regularly rotating ruleset to always keep things fresh.

EA didn’t say when the game’s beta will take place, though we can probably expect it to be soon, as the game will be launching next month.

Surprisingly, EA has only confirmed releases for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with currently no sign of it coming to PC or next gen platforms.

UFC 4 will release on 14 August for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
