ORIGINAL: The question of where Xur is will be answered by Bungie later today, Friday, October 22, across PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The good news is that the elusive Destiny 2 merchant will be arriving in one of his designated spots and will be offering a fresh lineup of exotic items.
These will range from weapons to armour, and there will also be Legendary sets to check out too. While the exotic weapons are an important factor for Guardians when determining what to buy, gamers will also want to see what kind of stat rolls are attached to each item.
And if something tasty has been added to Xur’s wares this week, Guardians will be able to exchange Glimmer and Legendary Shards for whatever catches their eye.
Xur is expected to return to the Destiny 2 map at 6pm BST, the same time that the Trials of Osiris will be back in the rotation.
Both activities will be sticking around until the weekly reset, which will be held on Tuesday, October 26.
The Trials of Osiris might get a little attention this week as Bungie will be running an experimental build.
This could make it harder to unlock the best weapons, with the development team confirming:
“For this round, we’ll be looking at Freelance. For those that don’t know, Freelance is a matchmaking node specifically for solo players; no premade fireteams may enter. While players continue to earn Trials reputation and even go for a Flawless run, this is a separate node that will be located directly above Trials of Osiris in the Director.

“Now remember, if you’re going in alone, watch your back. There’s no telling if your Freelance teammates will be looking out for you. Find a buddy, move together, and maybe your team will come out on top.
“Through this Freelance Labs weekend, Trials reputation will be doubled. If you’re rounding out your Trials specific armor collection or aiming for a good roll on any of the weapons that Trials has to offer, this is a great weekend to jam out some rep.”
Back to Xur, and Bungie never provides any information on what he is selling beforehand, and it’s always a guess at where he might be.
A few select random locations are used each week, with Nessus, EDZ and The Tower part of the usual rotation.
And for anyone who has forgotten, Legendary Shards used by Xur are remnants of powerful items used to improve gear or trade for other stuff.
It should also be noted that Xur will be dropping items similar in power level to your character.
And another part of Xur that is new to the latest version of Destiny 2 is that he now drops Cipher Quests for free.
The Quest will reward you with an exotic Cipher, and last week included completing 21 Strikes or winning the same number of Crucible or Gambit matches.
Every week, Guardians can acquire one Exotic Engram using Legendary Shards that will decrypt as Exotics that aren’t already in your collection.
Xur was selling these exotic items last week – Hard Light for 29 Legendary Shards, Shards of Galanor for 23 Legendary Shards, Sunbracers for 23 Legendary Shards, and Crest of Alpha Lupi for 23 Legendary Shards.
