Despite Skipping E3, Doug Bowser Says Animal Crossing Has “New And Fun Activities” On The Way
Nintendo put on an incredible keynote at E3 2021, but one of its biggest franchises was nowhere to be seen. Animal Crossing didn’t pop up once during the action-packed event, although Nintendo president Doug Bowser says fans have plenty to look forward to.
During a recent interview with The Verge, Bowser discussed the massive impact Animal Crossing: New Horizons played in 2020, and how it will continue to be crucial to Nintendo’s success through the coming months.
“While we didn’t talk about it [during the E3 Nintendo Direct], we absolutely have plans going forward to ensure the 33 million people who have islands out there have new and fun activities to engage with,” Bowser said. “Look for more to come.”
It’s not much, but at least Animal Crossing hasn’t been forgotten in favor of Metroid and Zelda. Whether this means new features, locations, or events is unknown, but let’s cross our fingers and hope to hear more in the coming months. As one of the best-selling Switch games of all time, its hard to imagine Nintendo dropping support for the popular title after being on the market for just over a year.
While you wait to learn more about Animal Crossing, you can check out plenty of new Metroid Dread gameplay, along with some of our wild theories about Breath of the Wild 2.
