Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is 135GB install for PS5 and Xbox Series X

Activision has revealed the install sizes and pre-load times for this year’s Call Of Duty, and they’re not quite as bad as previously feared.

There’s good news and bad news here. The good news is that the install size for Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on next gen consoles is much lower than the 250GB originally listed for the PC version.

The bad news is that it’s still a pretty massive 133GB on PlayStation 5 and 136GB on Xbox Series X (it should be around 30% less on Xbox Series S, so about 95GB).

According to Activision’s revised details the PC version is now 125GB with ‘ultra’ graphics and a mere 82GB for the full game or just 35GB for the multiplayer alone. Which really is quite the change from what they were saying just a week ago.

That compares to 93GB on the Xbox One and 95GB on the PlayStation 4, although all these figures are only at launch and as more updates are added the file size will begin to balloon out.

That’s especially true of battle royale game Warzone which isn’t even included in these figures and is likely to be at least another 80GB on its own.

Even if the figures are better than expected Cold War is still going to take up a large section of each of the next gen SSDs, especially the Xbox Series S, which was recently rumoured to have just 364GB of useable storage space.

By comparison the PlayStation 5 has around 664GB and the Xbox Series X around 800GB, so with both next gen versions certain to be pushing 150GB after a few months that is a lot of space on your hard drive to devote to just Call Of Duty.
