BLACKPINK Will Play PUBG Mobile in “Fun Match” Gameplay Show

Members of South Korean superstar girl group BLACKPINK will play PUBG Mobile in a gameplay stream later this month. The group partnered with the popular mobile game in September, bringing BLACKPINK-themed items to the game. The group will now team up with South Korean singer Kim Hee-chul and streamers DDEDDEDDEDDE and BEENU for PUBG Mobile’s “Fun Match” gameplay showcase stream.

The PUBG Mobile Fun Match will be streamed on the game’s official Facebook and YouTube channels later this month. While not much else has been revealed about the event, the announcement tweet does hint at BLACKPINK members playing the game as part of the stream.

South Korean singer Kim Hee-chul, better known as just Heechul, will also make an appearance during the stream. The artists will be joined by Korean streamers DDEDDEDDEDDE and BEENU.

PUBG Mobile partnered with the K-pop supergroup in September, bringing BLACKPINK-themed items and events to the battle royale. How You Like That, a recent single from the group’s newest album, was available to play in game lobbies at the start of the partnership. The BLACKPINK logo could be spotted on different objects within the game, and supply drops’ smoke was a fitting pink. BLACKPINK cosmetic items were also available in-game.

BLACKPINK is one of the most popular South Korean groups in the world, garnering billions of views on YouTube and countless Korean and American music award nominations. At 1.3 billion views, their 2018 single DDU-DU DDU-DU holds the record for the most views of any K-pop music video.

In 2019, the group became the first Korean act to perform at Coachella. Ice Cream, another recent single from their new album, fittingly named The Album, saw the group collaborate with popular American artist Selena Gomez.

In September, each member of BLACKPINK’s player IDs were revealed by PUBG Mobile. Each member’s tag included their name followed by ‘PUBGM’. Revealing their player IDs allows players to search for them and send them items through the game.

BLACKPINK is just one collaboration that PUBG Mobile has taken on in recent months. A recent partnership with Mountain Dew saw similar advertisements in-game, including a Mountain Dew-branded loot-dropping vending machine. The game has also partnered with Norwegian DJ Alan Walker.
