Black Ops: Cold War Is Getting A Balance Patch Soon
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War already saw a post-release patch, but it seems that additional changes might be on the horizon. Tony Flame, Lead Game Designer at Treyarch, recently mentioned “more balance changes coming in with Season 1, if not sooner,” and the team is listening to player feedback before making any large adjustments.
Since its alpha, Black Ops Cold War has seen some pretty big tweaks – the most recent change being a massive nerf to its sliding mechanic prior to launch. But just because the game has released doesn’t mean the adjustments are stopping anytime soon. Check out the tweet below from Flame to see what we can expect in the near future:
Season 1 is confirmed to begin on December 10, bringing new maps, modes, and weapons with it. Whether or not the adjustments Flame has in mind will drop before than is anyone’s guess, but we’re glad to see the team keeping an eye on the community and implementing feedback as necessary. I’m sure most of the community would love to see an MP5 nerf – seriously, it’s just about the only gun people are using – and an ADS adjustment for snipers. Flame confirms there “WILL be Weapon, Scorestreak, and more balance changes” in the future, and it’s hard to see those two weapons sneaking past the update untouched.
For now, you can take advantage of a double XP event that is currently live across Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer modes. It was expected to end today, but the team has extended the deadline to November 17 at 10am PT. And, as of late last night, that includes Zombies.
If you’ve never been a fan of Zombies, it might be worth a try in Black Ops Cold War. Flame said the team “took [their] MP System and Balance philosophies and blended them into Zombies, including Rank and Weapon progression for slaying the undead.” Flame believes this gives it a similar feeling to traditional Call of Duty multiplayer modes, and provides you with a tangible feeling of growth during your playtime.
Black Ops Cold War’s Season 1 begins on December 10.
