Word on Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been quiet for a while, after it failed to appear at either of the Ubisoft Forward events.

WoW ! This little guy has many things to teach to Sam Fisher ! Today is very special for me. After more than 30 years, I’ve decided to stop working on video games and fully focus on my second passion : Wild Life ! My new project takes place in the real world and consists in a wild life open sanctuary dedicated to education , nature lovers and … wild animals. ??? video games part ??? Many of you might want to know what will happen to Wild and BGE2. No worries, since many months now the teams are autonomous and the projects are going super well. Beautiful things to be seen soon. May the fox be with you ?
‘After more than 30 years, I’ve decided to stop working on video games and fully focus on my second passion: wildlife!’, he writes alongside footage of a fox attempting to steal a plastic bag.
‘My new project takes place in the real world and consists in a wildlife open sanctuary dedicated to education, nature lovers and wild animals.’
Aware that this would result in questions regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2, he also states that the team has been autonomous for the last few months and development is going ‘super well.’
Ubisoft has released its own statement, where it notes that Ancel hadn’t been directly involved with the game for some time, though it aims to remain true to his initial vision.
Ubisoft adds that it has since built upon the tech demos we’ve seen so far, with a new build that offers hours of gameplay, and it hopes to show new footage sometime next year.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 currently has no confirmed platforms, though at this point, we can most likely expect it to release on next gen hardware, namely the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
The outlook for indie game Wild, which Ancel was creating separately from his work at Ubisoft is probably less positive, especially as the game has barely been heard of again since it was first announced six years ago.
