Baldur’s Gate 3 – Where Is Halsin? Finishing Act 1 Guide
If you’re struggling to find Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3, look no further than this comprehensive guide on how to finish Act 1 of Larian’s latest dungeons and dragons RPG.
For those unacquainted with Halsin, he’s the absentee leader of Druid’s Grove. In order to prevent the impending conflict between the Tieflings, led by Zevlor, and the Druids, unwillingly led by the nefarious Kagha, you’ll need to find the First Druid and bring him back to restore order. The problem is that he’s also a literal bear, courtesy of his druid-esque magical affinity with nature, and he’s kind of gone missing somewhere on the outskirts of a massive goblin camp.
If you’re stuck, don’t fret — here’s where to find Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 — Where To Find Halsin
Halsin isn’t actually too difficult to come across in Baldur’s Gate 3. Although it might seem as if you’re being sent on a wild goose chase — or wild bear chase in this instance — all you have to do to locate Halsin is follow the natural trajectory of the main quest.
If you’ve got the objective to search for Halsin, you should already know that there is a goblin camp off to the west of Druid’s Grove. In order to get there, you’ll need to pass through the Blighted Village, which has a fast travel waypoint if you’ve already passed through before. Your aim is to go through this area and cross the bridge due northwest, where you’ll encounter a horde of goblins.
Baldur’s Gate 3 — How To Get To The Goblin Camp
You’re likely only level 2 at this point, meaning this will be a tough fight. You can avoid it if you’re willing to smear warg leavings on your face as warpaint, though, so it all boils down to how much pride your character has. After getting beaten up by goblins three times on the trot, I took one for the team and dressed my face in particularly potent dung. It’s one thing to have dignity, it’s another thing entirely to keep your poo-covered head attached to your shoulders.
Once you pass through, go east and you’ll reach a goblin village. You’ll want to quicksave prior to entering the prison, as you’ll need to pass a check here in order to progress without a fight. Once inside, you’ll have the option to fight three goblin leaders — True Soul Gut, Dror Ragzlin, and a Drow named Minthara. The last one is the only person you need to defeat in order to bring Halsin back, although you’ll have to fight the others later if you leave them now. As someone who has successfully located Halsin, I would recommend being civil with True Soul Gut and Dror Ragzlin, and pretending you’re on Minthara’s side. Tell her you’ll infiltrate Druid’s Grove, but warn Zevlor about the attack instead.
Once Minthara arrives, tell her you’ve turned on her and stand firm with Zevlor and the other Tieflings.
Baldur’s Gate 3 — How To Beat Minthara
This is a grueling fight, but one you can definitely win at level 2. I used my character — a Tiefling warlock — with Shadowheart, Wyll, and Gale. Make sure to keep your party split up — I sent Shadowheart right over to the other side of the battlements to tank the enemies that came up through that way, while my ranged wizards rained down massive area-of-effect attacks from above with Zevlor.
Target the sword spiders first, as they can attack twice in one turn and wipe out the Tiefling support in two or three turns. After that take down the ogre, who will hurl goblins up on the battlements throughout the fight. Once you’ve done this, it’s a battle of attrition — keeping Shadowheart away from the ledge means she can easily revive anyone who falls, while Gale and Wyll can spam Witch Bolt and Eldritch Blast on all of the remaining goblins and, eventually, Minthara herself.
Baldur’s Gate 3 — How To Find Halsin
Once Minthara falls, Halsin will rock up to Druid’s Grove as if nothing ever happened. He immediately agrees to help you with the tadpole stuck in your head, but states that celebrations are in order first for today’s victory. After chatting to Halsin, speak to Zevlor, head to your camp, and drink the night away. The following morning, Halsin will come to speak to you about what’s next.
