Amnesia: Rebirth Scares Up An October 20 Release
After a long intermission between releases, the Amnesia series is ready to return to the scene and scare the pants off of you. Developer Frictional Games has announced that Amnesia: Rebirth, the third installment in its cult-classic indie horror series, will be hitting PC and PS4 on October 20, 2020. That’s just in time for Halloween, which is likely to get people talking.
Thomas Grip, creative director on Rebirth at Frictional, said, “Amnesia is not just another haunted house spook-fest, but an emotionally harrowing journey. We aim to go beyond simple jump-scares and to affect players on a deeper level. While Rebirth will contain the terrifying encounters and sights you expect from an Amnesia game, it has a lot more focus on narrative than previous entries in the series.”
In a departure from the previous titles, Rebirth will be set in a completely different environment than what players might expect. You’ll be traversing through a scorched desert with plenty of dark caves and alien irregularities spread about. This indicates we might be in store for a supernatural terror instead of a mental one, though there will certainly be introspective mind games at play.
On PC, you’ll be able to grab Amnesia: Rebirth from Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. No physical version is currently planned for PS4, but may eventually happen in the future. The game is priced at $30 (and having launch discounts on all platforms), which isn’t a bad price for this type of indie horror experience.
