Virtus.pro sign second CSGO team; VP.Prodigy

Virtus.pro has launched its second roster in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the form of VP.Prodigy. This isn’t the squads first dip into having a second roster in a game as they currently field a VP.Prodigy side in Dota 2 as well.

“After VP.Prodigy’s success in Dota 2 it became obvious that youngsters squads are the next big thing, that’s why we decided to continue on this path. There are a lot of different tournaments right now for our second roster to participate in, without interfering with our first roster,” Sergey Glamazda, the CEO of Virtus.pro said in the official announcement. “Two squads can successfully coexist in the ecosystem. Launching a second roster is yet another way for us to display our eagerness to develop young players and esports in general.”

The organization’s main lineup has had a rough go of things since being purchased from AVANGAR. In 2020 the team’s best results came at BLAST Premier CIS Cup where they finished 1st and the WePlay! Clutch Island event where they finished 3rd. Outside of those events the CIS roster finished 13th-15th & 13th-16th at ESL Pro League Season 11: Europe and IEM Katowice 2020.

The new lineup will be looking to invest in and develop upcoming players.

Mikhail Artemyev, CS:GO branch manager of Virtus.pro had the following to say regarding the new roster.

“We started off this summer searching for a team leader — a coach capable of leading young players. We have watched a ton of demos together and communicated with lots of players. Our main goal was to find not only skilled players, but also interesting personalities who could avoid conflicts and work together as a team. As far as I can tell, we’ve managed to build a perfect squad in terms of team morale and potential.”

  • Maxim “awesome” Zyuzko
