Valve helps Movistar Liga Pro Gaming with $45,000 to keep the South American scene afloat
Movistar Liga Pro Gaming received $45,000 financial support from Valve to keep the South American premier league going during the troublesome COVID-19 times.
Live Media Esports, the producer behind Movistar Liga Pro Gaming, announced that the money will be used to host two events for the South American scene by the end of 2020.
“Dota 2 is the second most popular esport in Peru, with audiences that can even exceed professional soccer in some cases. This contribution from Valve is a demonstration of their interest in growing Dota 2 in our region and that they have appreciated the great effort we have made over these almost three years to professionalize the local scene. Our entire staff is preparing all the production details to create the best audiovisual and content experience for the enormous legion of esports fans in our country,” said Luis Carrillo Pinto, CEO of Live Media.
Movistar Liga Pro Gaming Season 6 will be held with a $25,000 prize pool, more than a double increase in the money offered in the previous season, which was $10,000. The tournament will also offer a chance to newcomers and amateur teams by opening a secondary division for them.
In addition, Live Media Esports will host a Final Series event with $ 20,000 prize pool and eight teams competing. Top seven teams from the Movistar Liga Pro Gaming Season 6 will be joined by the winner of the lower division for a shot at taking the Final Series title.
