Team Vitality Settles Into Mumbai, Signs Several Indian Content Creators
French esport organization Team Vitality formally announced in October its plans to launch a division in India, and on Friday it revealed the first fruits of those efforts.
Vitality announced that it has opened a base of operations in Mumbai and signed several content creators in the region to raise its profile and build a fan base. Those content creators include Nischay Malhan, Rachit Yadav, Nitin Chougale, and Saloni Kandalgaonkar, whose YouTube channels have a collective following of more than 10M subscribers.
These content creators work with Vitality to create a “variety of engaging events and contests across their social media channels, as well as on Team Vitality India’s Facebook and Instagram pages.”
Beyond signing local talent to raise its profile in the region, Vitality also said that it plans to launch at least one competitive roster in 2021, though it did not say what game it will focus on at the time of writing.
“While we haven’t finalized on the games, we are watching the market closely and will make a decision when we are closer to building a roster,” a representative for the organization told The Esports Observer.
Randall Fernandez, who joined the organization in January after serving in several executive roles at PlayStation India for more than six years, will serve as the general manager of Team Vitality India.
Team Vitality fields teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends European Championship (LEC), and Rocket League. Its sponsors include Red Bull, CORSAIR, adidas, Renault, and more.
