Tarik addresses his comments about Chaos CSGO cheating allegations

Professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) player Tarik “tarik” Celik expanded on comments he made about a Chaos Esports Club player cheating. On June 22, tarik posted clips on Twitter, suggesting Nathan “leaf” Orf was aim-locking against MiBR during the cs_summit 6 Regional Qualifier. The clips, coupled with a response from MiBR player Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo de Alcântara Sguario, sparked a massive backlash from the Brazilian CSGO community.

In response to the allegations, hundreds of MiBR fans sent a wave of abusive messages to leaf and his teammate Erick “Xeppaa” Bach. Eventually, the fans’ hate became so extensive that 16-year-old leaf closed his Twitter profile to the public. However, his teammates, fans, and friends jumped to his defense, saying the clips are coincidental. Furthermore, his defenders say the clips don’t warrant death threats and verbal abuse regardless.

      Tarik responds to his community

Later the same day, tarik started his daily FACEIT Pro League stream. Straight out of the gates, MiBR and Chaos fans flooded his chat with comments and questions. At this time, he took a few minutes to clarify and expand on his original remarks. Tarik expressed regret for publicly calling out leaf for cheating. He says it was “stupid” of him to add fuel to the fire, and he didn’t think of the repercussions. Similarly, Tarik stated he didn’t intend for the Brazilian community to react the way it did.

While Tarik shares he still thinks the clips are suspicious, he acknowledges he isn’t in a position “to do anything about it.”

Now two days later, the accusations and abuse have settled down. Leaf has reopened his Twitter profile but has closed his DMs to the public. However, the MiBR players and fanbase are still expecting an official analysis. There has been no official comment from Beyond the Summit regarding any current or future investigation into leaf or his teammates.
