PSG.LGD make playoffs thanks to Elephant's brilliance
Today we saw only one series at the China Dota2 Pro Cup
Season 2, as Elephant went up against Royal Never Give Up – but the
implications of this series would affect the entire lower bracket of the event.
Things were heating up at the China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 2,
with only one series remaining of the group stages – a series which would
decide the upper bracket, lower bracket and eliminations all in one. While
Elephant were already confirmed a spot in the upper bracket of playoffs,
PSG.LGD struggled to balance their games – and in a round-robin, that spelled
danger. However, the final series saw Royal Never Give Up also battling to
progress, needing a win over Elephant to push Sparking Arrow Gaming into the
RNG were able to rip through Elephant at the CDA-FDC
Professional Championship Season 2, a tournament on going at the same time as
the Pro Cup – but since completing their deal on Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun,
Elephant were not to be messed with. However, it was Zhou ‘Yang” Haiyang who put
Elephant on his back and became an unkillable monster Axe in game one to take
the series lead and place RNG in a very precarious position.
Although RNG tried their hardest to fight back in the next
game, gaining a solid lead early on, they had nothing at all to counter the
power of their opponent’s lineup. It took one team fight as the 40-minute mark
came along for RNG to call GG as Elephant claimed a 2-0 victory.
The win has huge implications for the playoff stage, as
PSG.LGD would now make it past elimination, along with SAG, while RNG and Invictus
Gaming would be eliminated from the event. The playoff stage of the China Dota2
Pro Cup Season 2 begin on September 27th, with the teams getting a
short break to complete their games at the CDA-FDC Professional Championship.
