Pokémon announces Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Gen 4 remakes
Pokémon has announced the return of Sinnoh in the upcoming Generation four remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The Pokémon Company announced the new games during its Pokémon Presents livestream on Feb. 26.
These new games will feature a distinct top-down chibi style akin to the graphics of the original DS games. This distinguishes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl from the more updated 3D style of Sword and Shield. Nevertheless, the games will feature Pokémon’s traditional turn-based battle system.
The new Pokémon Legends: Arceus game was also announced. Interestingly enough, it differs from the remakes as an open world action RPG. ILCA is developing the new Pokémon games. As a result, they are the first main series Pokémon games not developed by Game Freak. However, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda is one of the directors of the project.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will allow trainers to revisit the Sinnoh region. This region last appeared in Pokémon Platinum in September of 2008. Since then, every major Pokémon region has featured in a main series game except for Sinnoh.
Many Pokémon fans have taken to Twitter to react to the remakes. They have commented on its art style to its competitive potential. While many fans have reacted positively to the news, others have expressed doubts. Many express worries that the quality of these games will match that of the originals.
As of yet, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl do not have a confirmed release date. They will launch on Nintendo Switch later this year.
Fans can also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series with games like Pokémon Unite, New Pokémon Snap and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
