Overwatch League Grand Finals Viewership Up 38% Year-Over-Year
Activision Blizzard has reported viewership metrics for the Overwatch League Grand Finals last weekend, which reached a global average minute audience of 1.55M – up 38% from the 2019 Grand Finals match. This makes the 2020 Grand Finals the most-watched OWL match in the league’s history.
Viewership on the YouTube broadcast peaked at 180K concurrent viewers as the San Francisco Shock became the league’s first-ever back-to-back champions. The Grand Finals saw a significant increase in viewership from the playoffs, which reached a live+3 AMA of 375K.
Due to COVID-19 safety measures, this year’s Grand Finals broadcast took place entirely within a virtual set, with commentary and match play taking place remotely.
