LVP’s CS:GO Unity Cup Added as Qualifier for BLAST Premier Series Event

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams across Spain and Portugal will have a chance to qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Showdown when the Unity Cup kicks off on Feb. 27. Organized by LVP, a subsidiary of MEDIAPRO, the Spanish multimedia and communications group, the event will consist of two qualifiers that will see teams attempt to take home a prize of $4.8K USD (€4K Euro) and advance in an attempt to qualify for a spot in a BLAST Premier Series event.

The Unity Cup is a BLAST Premier Qualifier and will be facilitated by conducting two qualifying tournaments that are open to all teams in Spain. The first qualifier will take place throughout  March. The second will have some dates in the fall.

Teams from Spain and Portugal will get their chance to qualify for a “Play-In” event that leads to either the BLAST Premier Spring or Fall Showdowns. The first Unity Cup will send its top six teams to the Play-In, where they’ll meet two teams from RTP Arena (Portugal)–all fighting for a Spring Showdown spot. The second Unity Cup will see the two best teams qualify for the Fall Play-In, where the winners can earn a place in the Fall Showdown being organized by RTP Arena.

Registration for the first qualifier, taking place from Feb. 27-28, is currently ongoing. The six best teams from the Iberian Peninsula will come out of this tournament, joining sAw and Movistar Riders. These eight teams will compete to determine which are in the top six, with those teams then heading to the BLAST Premier access Play-In with the two representatives from the Portuguese CS:GO scene.

The CS:GO Unity Cup has brought on Mahou Cinco Estrellas as a sponsor and will see its beer brand maintaining a presence in the broadcasts of the competition, on LVP’s social networks and be the title sponsor of the match MVP.

Mahou makes another entry into the esports space after the beverage company signed a deal with LVP competitions a few weeks ago to sponsor the League of Legends Superliga. Other activations between Mahou and LVP will be announced over the next few months.
