League of Legends: Evil Geniuses Releases Zeyzal in LCS Roster Revamp

Evil Geniuses has decided to part ways with League of Legends support player Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam ahead of the 2021 LCS season, the 21-year-old revealed yesterday. The former Cloud9 support spent the last year with Evil Geniuses, playing two splits on the organization’s starting LCS roster. Zeyzal now moves into free agency, and is currently looking for a new home for the 2021 season.

Zeyzal signed with Evil Geniuses ahead of the 2020 season, after a successful year with Cloud9. The support joined alongside former C9 teammate Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen and Cloud9 Academy top laner Colin “Kumo” Zhao. The team finished second behind Cloud9 in the 2020 LCS Spring split regular season, with a 10-8 win/loss record. A lower bracket loss to FlyQuest saw them finish third overall.

Evil Geniuses didn’t reach the same success in the 2020 Summer split, finishing sixth in the regular season with an 8-10 record. While still earning a spot in the play-offs, the team was eliminated in the lower bracket, finishing 5-6th overall for the split.

Zeyzal will now be parting ways with Evil Geniuses, the support player announced on Twitter yesterday. “I’m now a free agent and I’ll be looking for a team for 2021,” he states in the Tweet. Zeyzal says playing for the organization was “a wonderful experience.”

Zeyzal is the fourth member of the organization’s League of Legends roster to be removed after the 2020 season. Kumo, Greyson “Goldenglue” Gilmer, and Bae “Bang” Jun-sik all parted ways with the organization earlier this month. Jungler Svenskeren and mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro are expected to stay with the team.

EG is rumored to sign Korean FlyQuest support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun in Zeyzal’s place. IgNar placed second in both LCS 2020 Spring and Summer splits, and finished 9-12th at this year’s World Championship.

The team is also reportedly signing Team Liquid top laner Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong and TSM Academy AD carry Lawrence “Lost” Sze Yuy Hui for 2021. Evil Geniuses is also expected to release top laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon, as rumors suggest he will be joining Team SoloMid.

There is currently no word on where Zeyzal will play next, though he says he is open to all offers. The 2021 LCS season is expected to start sometime early next year.
