Heen wins Coach of the Year at The Esports Awards 2020

It has been a little over a year since Lee Seung “Heen” Gon
joined Team Secret in the coaching role and considering their dominance for
much of this year, he has been crowned the Esports Coach of the Year in the
Esports Awards 2020.

In early November of 2019, Lee Seung “Heen” Gon would join
Team Secret as their new coach, a squad of five amazing players who constantly
found themselves dominating at Majors. While there were a few shaky
performances from the team in the early parts of the year – ESL One Los
Angeles: Online and WeSave! Charity Play in particular, Secret has been almost
entirely unstoppable. Things begun on a high, with a victory at the only Major
we’ve seen this year followed by the lockdown, online event eight tournament
win streak. All of this, under Heen’s watchful guidance.

The Esports Awards have been around for some time – five years to be exact now, but the category for the coach of the year only came about last year, when Danny “zonic” Sørensen lead Astralis to multiple Counter-Strike: Global Offensive championship victories. Heen becomes the second player to accept this amazing award after the brilliant year we’ve seen from Secret – albeit in offline tournaments, but fantastic to watch either way.

Although it was confirmed that Heen is the Coach of the Year, the actual Esports Awards ceremony will be presented tonight and can be watched via Twitch.tv. Other awards which will be seen are: Host of the Year, Team of the Year, Player of the Year and much more. A huge congratulations to Heen and all other victors at the Esports Awards 2020.
