Enthusiast Gaming acquires Tabwire, unveils gaming social network plans – Esports Insider

Toronto-based media and content platform Enthusiast Gaming, the parent company of Luminosity Gaming, has announced plans to develop a subscription-based social network for gamers, code-named Project GG.

To facilitate the development of the project, which is expected to be made available later this year,  Enthusiast Gaming has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire data platform Tabwire LLC for $11m (£7.81m).

Tabwire provides gamers with the ability to track their player and game stats, by way of a registered user profile, and has built gameplay companion tools for VALORANT and Rainbow Six Siege. According to the release, the platform generated half a billion views last year and garners a reported 13m active users.

Adrian Montgomery, CEO of Enthusiast Gaming commented: “The announcement of a unifying pan-Enthusiast social network with a premium subscription opportunity for gamers is a defining moment for us as our core GenZ and Millennial audiences have been moving away from traditional social networks and turning to gaming as an alternative.

“Tabwire marks an important milestone for Enthusiast Gaming to be able to bring Project GG to market later this year. It will provide us with essential data capabilities to deliver our customers a complete social offering with a more targeted, integrated and personalised experience for today’s gamer.”

Tabwire isn’t the only acquisition that Enthusiast Gaming has made recently, having completed the purchase of Icy Veins earlier this week. The organisation also recently inked deals with TikTok, as well as ESPAT TV.

Menashe Kestenbaum, Founder and President of Enthusiast Gaming added: “We are in a unique position to successfully execute our mission to build a true platform for a game agnostic social network.

“Our unique vantage point and distribution platform, that reaches over 300m gamers monthly, gives us unparalleled exposure to the full breadth of the gaming industry, from publishers to gaming media to influencers and esports teams.

Esports Insider says: Enthusiast Gaming is continuing to push its brand across a range of platforms and the acquisition of Tabwire is yet another impressive addition to its growing portfolio. The social media network plans are interesting and it’ll be intriguing to see how the endeavour goes considering other entities, such as eFuse, have already started to approach this sector.
