Call of Duty League Sees Best Viewership of the Season

Call of Duty League earned its best viewership of the season last weekend when the Chicago HuntsmenAtlanta FaZe match peaked at around 115K viewers.

The game was part of the New York Subliners’ home series weekend, the third-to-last home series of the regular season, and the 115K peak beat a FaZe-Florida Mutineers match in Week 3 that earned 113K viewers.  The Subliners won the tournament by beating the Huntsmen in the final on Sunday, which moved into the top five in the league’s standings.

The Subliners-Huntsmen match was the most-watched home series final of the season, with an average viewership of 96K people. That was the third-best match of the season of any kind.

League Commissioner Johanna Faries wrote in a prepared statement: “The New York Home Series was an outstanding event. The storylines, the gameplay, the viewership – they all reflect the hard work and resiliency that everyone in the league continue to show in the face of a challenging year. Fans are showing such passionate support for their teams and cities; it’s been exciting to see unfold in our inaugural season. We remain focused on delivering in top-quality ways and are looking forward to what should be an exciting postseason.”

Meanwhile, the league announced post-season details, with a double-elimination tournament in mid-August that will determine the four finalists, who will then play for the league championship on Aug. 29-30.

The league also revealed that it will roll out some championship weekend-specific viewer rewards that will give those who tune in the chance to get prizes to use in their Call of Duty video games.
