Brazilian Telecom Oi Sponsors Prêmio Esports Brasil
Brazilian telecommunications company Oi will be sponsoring the Prêmio Esports Brasil, an annual awards ceremony organized by communications giant Globo and investment group Go4it that recognizes the most prominent esports personalities in the country. The deal also grants Oi the naming rights to the “best streamer” category, named “Oi apresenta Melhor Streamer” (“Oi presents Best Streamer” in Portuguese).
The 2020’s Prêmio Esports Brasil was confirmed earlier this year after some insecurity due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Now scheduled to happen on Dec. 8, organizers are studying the possibility for the ceremony to take place in a physical venue with guests, but the event’s Head of Marketing and Communication Thiago Milhazes said “this is not defined yet” and will be decided as control over the pandemic continues to develop.
According to the organizers, last year’s Prêmio Esports Brasil registered 10M audience votes for the best players and personalities in 20 categories, passing the 3.4M votes registered by the global Esports Awards. Besides live streaming on Twitch and YouTube, the ceremony will also be broadcast by Globo’s pay-TV channel SporTV.
